Quico (footballer)
José Eugenio Ruiz Palacios (born 12 August 1961, in Seville), known as Quico, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a central defender. Football career During his professional career, Quico played mainly for hometown club Real Betis. Arriving in the 1982–83 campaign, he made his La Liga debut on 31 October 1982 in a 0–1 home loss against RC Celta de Vigo, and quickly became a fan favourite although he rarely started (only seven league matches in his first three years combined); on 30 August 1987, he scored the 2–1 winner in the Seville derby at Sevilla FC, heading home in the 86th minute of the match. Quico left Betis in 1988, with 81 first division appearances in which he netted six goals. Francisco Raul "Quico" Canseco (born July 30, 1949) is an American attorney, businessman, and former U.S. Representative for . He is a member of the Republican Party. Early life and education Canseco was born and reared in Laredo in Webb County in south Texas, the eldest of eight children of Consuelo Sada Rangel and Dr. Francisco Manuel Canseco, who were both born in Monterrey, Mexico. He earned a B.A in History from Saint Louis University in 1972. He went on to earn a J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1975. He is a brother in the Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity. His father was of Italian descent and his mother was of Sephardic Jewish descent. Carlos Francisco Córdoba Chacón, commonly known as Quico Chacón, (born 1 January 1934) is a former professional footballer who played in the Costa Rican Primera División and Mexican Primera División. Club career Born in San Isidro de Coronado, Vázquez de Coronado, Chacón played as a central defender. Quico (El Chavo Del Ocho)
''El Chavo del Ocho'', often shortened to ''El Chavo'', is a Mexican television sitcom created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. The show was based on a series of sketches performed on Gómez's eponymous sketch show, '' Chespirito'', which were first performed in 1971. ''El Chavo'' became its own series in 1973 and aired until 1980, becoming one of the most popular television programs in the world. Following its cancellation and the relaunch of ''Chespirito'', the ''El Chavo'' sketches returned in 1980 and continued to be performed on ''Chespirito'' until 1992 when Gómez, by this point in his sixties, discontinued them due to his advancing age. The show follows the life and tribulations of the title character, a poor orphan child (played by Gómez Bolaños) that lives on a Mexican housing complex, typically called a ''vecindad''. Corn nuts, also known as toasted corn, are a snack food made of roasted or deep-fried corn kernels. It is referred to as ''cancha'' in Peru and ''chulpi'' in Ecuador. Preparation Corn nuts are prepared by soaking whole corn kernels in water for three days, then deep-frying them in oil until they are hard and brittle. The kernels are soaked because they shrink during the harvesting and cleaning process, and rehydration returns them to their original size. History Albert Holloway of Oakland, California introduced corn nuts to the United States in 1936. He originally sold them to tavern owners to be given away free to their patrons as a snack that would be great with beer, calling them Olin's Brown Jug Toasted Corn.
