Quentin Loh
Quentin Loh Sze-On is a Singaporean judge who sits on the High Court of Singapore and the Supreme Court of Fiji. Legal career In 1978, Loh founded the Cooma, Lau & Loh legal team and became Managing Partner. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 1999. He moved to the Executive Committee of Rajah & Tann in 2001, and became Deputy Managing Partner in 2003. He also served as Director of a dispute resolution complex until 2009. Supreme Court career Loh was first appointed to the Supreme Court of Singapore as a Judicial Commissioner on 1 September 2009. On 1 June 2010, he was elevated to the position of High Court Judge. In December 2017, his term was extended by three years by president Halimah Yacob, and he was sworn in on 4 January 2018. Supreme Court Of Fiji
The Supreme Court of Fiji is one of three courts established by the now-defunct Chapter 9 of the Constitution, the others being the High Court and the Court of Appeal. The Supreme Court is declared to be ''"the final appellate court of the State"'' – in other words, there is no judicial authority higher than the Supreme Court. In this respect, the Supreme Court takes over the appellate functions formerly performed by the United Kingdom's Judicial Committee of the Privy Council before Fiji became a republic in 1987. Shadrake V Attorney-General
''Shadrake Alan v. Attorney-General'' is a 2011 judgment of the Court of Appeal of Singapore that clarified the law relating to the offence of scandalising the court. Alan Shadrake, the author of the book ''Once a Jolly Hangman: Singapore Justice in the Dock'' (2010), was charged with contempt of court by way of scandalising the court. In Singapore, the offence of scandalizing the court is committed when a person performs any act or publishes any writing that is calculated to bring a court or a judge of the court into contempt, or to lower his authority. An act or statement that alleges bias, lack of impartiality, impropriety or any wrongdoing concerning a judge in the exercise of his judicial function falls within the offence. The High Court and the Court of Appeal are empowered by section 7(1) of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act () to punish for contempt of court.
