Queentastic
Queentastic is a group of Norwegian drag artists, established in early 2005. Background Members Dean Erik Andersen, born in 1971 in Kristiansand, and Geir Lillejord, born in Skien in 1968, both have previous drag experience from their membership in Great Garlic Girls - another Norwegian drag act (two members of which backed Ketil Stokkan's Eurovision Song Contest 1986 entry as dancers. In fact, Dean had previously substituted for Geir (a founder of the group), which marked the beginning of their association. The duo competed as one of 18 acts in the Norwegian selections for Eurovision Song Contest, the Melodi Grand Prix 2006. They had previously presented their weekly show ''Sex, Drag & Rock 'n' Roll'' together at the current premium queer nightclub in Norway - the Oslo-based Nakenbr>- in company with a third drag queen and designer Cårejånni Enderud. Melodi Grand Prix 2006
''Melodi Grand Prix 2006'' (shortened ''MGP 2006'') is the television show in which the Norwegian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was chosen. The contest was held on February 4 in the Oslo Spektrum and was hosted by Synnøve Svabø and Stian Barsnes Simonsen. In addition, the Eurovision commentator for Norwegian television, Jostein Pedersen, played a role as side commentator for all five shows. In the three weeks leading up to the final, four qualification rounds were held; three semifinals and a second-chance round, where the last two final tickets were given out. The winner was Christine Guldbrandsen with the song "Alvedansen". Swedish dominance This year, NRK received 586 compositions, one of the highest numbers ever. However, the foreign songs exceed 60% of this total, coming mainly from Swedish composers. And as a result, 13 out of the 18 semi final entries are written by Swedes. Great Garlic Girls
Great Garlic Girls is a Norwegian drag group that has performed a number of drag shows since 1981. It was started by Morten Rudå, Olav Klingen, and Simen Sand. Up until 1992, the group consisted of Olav Klingen, Jonny Nymoen and Terje Schrøder. Olav Klingen had to quit the group in 1992 when he was involved in an accident which put a stop to his career. Jonny Nymoen informed about his retirement from the stage due to problems with his hips in an interview with Se & Hør in April 2016. Terje Schrøder is still active in the group, with Ronny Wilhelm as the replacement after Jonny Nymoen (2015) and Thomas Anholt as actor/dancer (since 2009). Former members include Kåre Jonny (Cårejonni) Enderud, Geir Lillejord and Dean Erik Andersen. Simen Sand has since the beginning been the choreographer for the Great Garlic Girls. Rickard Engfors
Rickard Engfors (born November 22, 1976, in Haninge, Stockholm) is a Swedish model, stylist and former drag queen. His career began in 1996 as an artist in Swedish drag troupe After Dark and he was quickly appointed to " Christer Lindarws crown prince" and was also known as "Sweden's best looking girl". He has performed for royalty, won awards for his artistic efforts and shared the stage with many of Sweden's most beloved artists. He acts as female lead singer in the music video of the 2003 single Pass This On by The Knife. In 2004 the Swedish fashion house Panos Emporio chose Rickard as its house model for a swimwear range, which caused so much controversy that it was re-shot using a Greek model called Aleka. Engfors participated in Melodifestivalen 2005 with the song "Ready for Me". Gerard James Borg
Gerard James Borg is a Maltese songwriter, author, and concept creator. He is well known for writing multiple songs that competed in the Eurovision Song Contest. Borg has written six of the Maltese entries for the annual Eurovision Song Contest with composer Philip Vella. Their song "7th Wonder" sung by Ira Losco gave Malta 2nd place in the contest. This was the first time Malta reached 2nd place and it is the country's best result in the contest so far, alongside the 2nd place earned by Chiara with the song "Angel" in 2005. Borg and Vella also penned the song "Reaching Higher" as the official theme for the 2003 Games of the Small States of Europe which were held in Malta that year. Some of their compositions have also done well in foreign charts.
