Queensway Shopping Centre is a shopping centre located in Queenstown, Singapore. The mall is one of Singapore's first multi-purpose shopping complexes and comprises 4 levels with a 1-storey basement car park. The mall is also a mixed development which includes a 13-storey apartment tower. Established in 1976, it is one of the oldest malls in Singapore. History Built in 1975, the mall was opened in 1976 to provide shopping and recreational options for residents residing in Queenstown and in Brickworks, Bukit Merah. Dubbed by locals as "Singapore’s Sports Mall", the mall is a popular spot for sporting items since its establishment. Queenstown, Singapore
Queenstown is a planning area and satellite residential town situated on the south-westernmost fringe of the Central Region of Singapore. It borders Bukit Timah to the north, Tanglin to the northeast, Bukit Merah to the east and southeast, as well as Clementi to the northwest and west. Its southern and southwesternmost limits are bounded by the Pandan Strait. Developed by the Singapore Improvement Trust in the 1950s and subsequently by the Housing and Development Board in the 1960s, Queenstown was the first satellite town to be built in the country. Most apartments within the township consists of simple one, two, or three-room flats, typically in low-rise, walk-up blocks. Brickworks (also known as Bukit Batok West Extension) is a subzone of Bukit Batok, Singapore. It is bounded by Bukit Batok West Avenue 3/2/5 and Bukit Batok Road and is beside the upcoming New Town, Tengah. It is the latest development area in Bukit Batok. Public & Private housing In recent years, several new HDB developments have been launched in the area. Commercial and Recreation facilities A commercial and private residential development known as Le Quest was opened in October 2020, serving as a neighborhood centre. A new hawker centre will be built beside Le Quest. Bukit Batok Hillside Park is also in this area.
