Queenadreena
Queenadreena was an English alternative rock band that formed in London, England in 1999 by vocalist KatieJane Garside and guitarist Crispin Gray, who had previously collaborated in the celebrated but short-lived band Daisy Chainsaw. Garside and Gray, who had earned a reputation for their abrasive songwriting with Daisy Chainsaw, incorporated elements of blues rock and other genres with Queenadreena, in addition to their predominant noise rock influences. The band released four studio albums between 2000 and 2008, beginning with the critically acclaimed '' Taxidermy'' (2000). The band signed with Rough Trade Records for their second release, '' Drink Me'' (2002), before being dropped by the label, after which they signed with the independent label One Little Indian. The band also released a live album, ''Live at the ICA'', which was recorded at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. KatieJane Garside
Katrina Jane Garside (born 8 July 1968) is an English singer, songwriter, visual artist, and poet. She is known for her dynamic musical projects, which have ranged in style from noise rock to acoustic folk-influenced, and featured vocals ranging from childlike whispers to harsh scream singing. The daughter of a father in the British Army, Garside had an itinerant childhood, growing up in several places in England, and spending a significant portion of her adolescence aboard a yacht. She rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of the indie noise rock band Daisy Chainsaw, which she formed in 1989 in London with guitarist Crispin Gray. After quitting Daisy Chainsaw in 1993, Garside went into seclusion for several years before reuniting with Gray in 1999 to form the rock band Queenadreena, with whom she released four studio albums between 2000 and 2008. ''Taxidermy'' is the debut album of English alternative rock band Queenadreena, released in 2000. The enhanced-CD release includes a short film by Martina Hoogland-Ivanow involving time-lapse photography and dream-like visuals. Release ''Taxidermy'' was released in the United Kingdom on compact disc which features a short film by Martina Hoogland-Ivanow, and as a 12" vinyl LP. Drink Me (Queenadreena Album)
''Drink Me'' is the second studio album by English alternative rock band Queenadreena, released in 2002. Since the band switched labels from Rough Trade to One Little Indian, the album became out of print and has become somewhat of a collector's item. The original British pressing of the album featured a controversial hidden image in the jewel casing. One Little Indian records have stated that there are no plans to re-release the album. The Dogbones
The Dogbones are an alternative rock band that were formed in London, in late 2007. All of the four founding musicians are former members of Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena, notable bands of the London alternative scene. History The Dogbones were founded by Crispin Gray (a.k.a. Johnny Orion), a former guitarist of Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena who at the end of 2007 gathered other members of those two bands. Nomi Leonard, who played on bass in Queenadreena, took vocals and guitar along with Crispin Gray, while Michael Vakalis was on bass and Vince Johnson on drums. The Dogbones usually do not show their former affiliations, however, and they used numericals on the sleeves of their releases for identifying the musicians. Pete Howard
Peter Howard is an English rock drummer. He was a member of the Clash from 1983 until 1986. Career The Clash (1983–86) Howard joined the Clash in spring 1983. Drummer Topper Headon had been fired the previous year – shortly before the release of the album ''Combat Rock'' – owing to the effects of his heroin addiction on the band. When Headon's replacement (the group's original drummer Terry Chimes) also left, Howard replaced him in turn. He played with the band after their last tour before founding member Mick Jones was sacked, when they co-headlined the US Festival in San Bernardino, California, on 28 May 1983; at the festival's New Music Day they drew a crowd estimated at between 100,000 and 200,000 people. Crispin Gray
Crispin John Orion Gray (born 1963) is an English guitarist and songwriter. Best known for his bands Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena, Gray has also played with Dizzy Q Viper, Vapid Dolly and The Dogbones. He is currently a member of Starsha Lee. His great uncle was British poet John Gray, allegedly the inspiration for Oscar Wilde's ''The Picture of Dorian Gray''. Ruby Throat
Ruby Throat is a British neofolk musical duo formed in 2007 by English vocalist KatieJane Garside and American guitarist Chris Whittingham. The duo were formed during the dissolution of Garside's former band, Queenadreena, and have recorded four studio albums. In 2020, Garside and Whittingham released music together under the name "Liar, Flower". History Ruby Throat formed in 2007 during the time in which KatieJane Garside's band Queenadreena was in stages of dissolution. Garside met Whittingham, an American from Hawaii while he was busking at a train platform in the London Underground, and asked him to collaborate with her on a musical project. Known for the hard-edged musical aesthetic of Garside's former bands Daisy Chainsaw and Queenadreena, Garside sought a stripped down, folk-oriented sound when forming Ruby Throat, with many of the duo's songs being based around acoustic guitar, and evoking a folk noir sound. Daisy Chainsaw
Daisy Chainsaw were an English rock group who were active between 1989 and 1994 started by guitarist and songwriter Crispin Gray. The group's original lead vocalist KatieJane Garside appeared on the band's early EPs and 1992 debut album, '' Eleventeen'', before departing in 1993. Lead vocalist Belinda Leith replaced Garside for the group's final album, released in 1994. Career The band formed in 1989 after KatieJane Garside answered an advertisement placed by guitarist Crispin Gray in the music press. Their gigs included grapevines and rag dolls strewn across the stage, and Garside thrashing around in soiled gowns drinking juice from a baby bottle. The band were successful with their ''Love Sick Pleasure'' EP which included the hit single, "Love Your Money" - primarily due to prime time appearances on ITV's ''The Chart Show'' and Channel 4's '' The Word''. Stephen Gilchrist
Stephen Gilchrist is an English musician from London, England, who also teaches drums and guitar across London. He is best known as the drummer in Blur guitarist Graham Coxon's live band, and also appears on Coxon's live albums, '' Burnt to Bitz: At the Astoria'' and '' Live at the Zodiac'', and on the single " Bloody Annoying / What Ya Gonna Do Now?". Gilchrist supplied the drums for the Graham Coxon and Jimmy Pursey's single supporting the England national football team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The song was a re-working of the Sham 69 hit "Hurry Up Harry", and was released as "Sham 69 and The Special Assembly". "Hurry Up England" entered the UK Singles Chart at #10. The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) is an artistic and cultural centre on The Mall in London, just off Trafalgar Square. Lake District
