''Queen of the Boulevards'' (German: ''Glanz und Elend der Kurtisanen'') is a 1927 German silent drama film directed by Manfred Noa and starring Paul Wegener, Andrée Lafayette and Werner Fuetterer.Bock & Bergfelder p.155 It is based on the novel ''Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes'' by Honoré de Balzac. It was shot at the Staaken Studios in Berlin, and distributed by the Munich-based Bavaria Film. Art direction was by Otto Erdmann and Hans Sohnle. Werner Fuetterer
Werner Fuetterer (10 January 1907 in Barth, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – 7 February 1991 in Benidorm, Province of Alicante, Spain) was a German film actor. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1925 and 1967. In his early film career, Fuetterer often played young romantic lovers, but never managed the breakthrough to stardom. He later turned to character and supporting roles, often as the main characters best friend. Fuetterer remains perhaps best known for his role as the Archangel in F. W. Murnau's silent film classic ''Faust'' (1926). He later retired from acting and managed a camping facility in Spain, where he died in 1991 at age 84. Eugen Burg (6 January 1871 – 17 April 1944) was a German actor. His daughter was Hansi Burg. Burg was a close friend of the actor Hans Albers. Burg was born Eugen Hirschburg into a Jewish family, but later converted to Protestantism. He was banished from the film industry when the Nazi Party came to power in Germany. He later died in Theresienstadt concentration camp. Helen von Münchofen (often spelt Helen von Muenchhofen) (1904–1956) was a Danish-German film actress. She was born in Copenhagen, but later moved to Germany, where she embarked on a career in films. She played a small part in Fritz Lang's ''Metropolis'' in 1927, but then gained more substantial roles in silent films of the late 1920s. Following the Nazi rise to power in 1933 she returned to Denmark, where she appeared in Pál Fejös's ''The Golden Smile'' (1935). Her daughter, Helen von Münchofen became an actress as well. Her granddaughter Suzanne Doucet, is an actress, musician, singer and composer. Kurt Gerron
Kurt Gerron (11 May 1897 – 28 October 1944) was a German History of the Jews in Germany, Jewish actor and film director. He and his wife, Olga were murdered in the Holocaust. Life Born Kurt Gerson into a well-off merchant family in Berlin, he studied medicine before being called up for military service in World War I. After being seriously wounded, he was qualified as a military doctor in the German Army (German Empire), German Army, despite having been only in his second year at university. After the war Gerron turned to a stage career, becoming a theatre actor under director Max Reinhardt in 1920. He appeared in secondary roles in several silent films and began directing film shorts in 1926.
