James Davern
James Edmund Davern, OAM, is an Australian television director, writer, script editor and producer, and founder of production company JNP Productions. Professional career Davern was employed as a writer and script editor with Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) television branch in the 1960s. He worked as a producer and director in drama and music programmes and was involved in establishing a script production line. In 1967, Davern was director and producer of the very first episode of '' Bellbird'', Australia's first successful television soap opera, set in a rural community. Davern moved to the Seven Network where he created the highly popular series '' A Country Practice'', one of the most popular drama series in Australian television history. The series ran from 1981 to 1993 with 1,058 episodes. When the Seven Network cancelled '' A Country Practice'' in 1993, it was remade by Network 10 in 1994. Joanne Samuel (born 5 August 1957) is an Australian film and television actress, who is best known for her role as the screen wife of Mel Gibson's title character in the 1979 film ''Mad Max''. Biography and career Samuel was born in Camperdown, Sydney, Australia. She studied dance with Honeybrooks and drama at the Independent Theatre Prior to her appearance in ''Mad Max'', Samuel had made guest appearances in police procedurals ''Matlock Police'' and '' Homicide''. She was then a regular cast member in television soap operas '' Class of '74'', ''The Sullivans'' and ''The Young Doctors''. She left ''The Young Doctors'' after the producers wrote her out of the show when she was offered the ''Mad Max'' role after a fellow ''Young Doctors'' actress who had been due to take the role fell ill. Chris Haywood (born ) is an English-born Australian actor, writer and producer, with close to 500 screen performances to his name. Haywood has also worked as a casting director, art director, sound recordist, camera operator, gaffer, grip, location and unit manager. Early life and education Haywood was born around 1948 in Billericay, Essex, England. He spent his early childhood in Chelmsford before moving to High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire where he attended Royal Grammar School from 1959 to 1965.
