Route 393 is a Quebec provincial highway located in the province's Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec regions. The highway runs from the junction of Route 101 in the Rouyn-Noranda suburb of Destor and ends in Val-Paradis in the municipality of Baie-James. In La Sarre it overlaps Route 111. Rouyn-Noranda ( 2021 population 42,313) is a city on Osisko Lake in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. The city of Rouyn-Noranda is a coextensive with a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec of the same name. Their geographical code is 86. History The city of Rouyn (named for Jean-Baptiste Rouyn, a captain in the Régiment Royal Roussillon of Louis-Joseph de Montcalm) appeared after copper was discovered in 1917. Noranda (a contraction of "North Canada") was created later around the Horne mine and foundry. Both were officially constituted as cities in 1926, then merged in 1986. Since 1966, Rouyn and Noranda constitute the capital of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. It is also the seat of Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) since 1983. Duparquet, Quebec
Duparquet () is a ''ville'' in northwestern Quebec, Canada in the Abitibi-Ouest Regional County Municipality, MRC d'Abitibi-Ouest. It covers and had a population of 716 as of the Canada 2021 Census. History In 1912, a rich gold vein was discovered near Lake Duparquet by a prospector named Beattie. He set up the Beattie Gold Mine company that began operation in 1933. That same year, the new community forming at the mine was incorporated as Ville de Duparquet, named after the geographic township in which it is located. The township was named in 1916 in honour of Jean-Annet Chabreuil Du Parquet, a grenadier captain of the La Sarre Regiment, that was part of Louis-Joseph de Montcalm, General Montcalm's army. After producing 1 million ounces of gold and killing at least 27 miners, including 4 in a landslide on 9 July 1946, the mine closed in 1956. Val-Saint-Gilles is a municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Abitibi-Ouest Regional County Municipality about north of La Sarre. It covers 109.39 km² and with a population of 169 in the 2021 Canadian census, it is the least populous incorporated municipality in the regional county. It lies at the northern edge of the Abitibi Clay Belt. The undulating land is dotted with swamps, a few small lakes, and sand and gravel deposits. Palmarolle, Quebec
Palmarolle is a municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada, in the Abitibi-Ouest Regional County Municipality. It covers 118.36 km2 and had a population of 1,465 as of the Canada 2011 Census. It is considered to have the best agricultural land of the entire Abitibi region. History The area began to be colonized in 1911 when the township was surveyed. The completion of the National Transcontinental Railway at La Sarre and Macamic led to further waves of development with the arrival of new settlers in 1916, 1918, and 1929.
