Route 325 is a Quebec provincial highway located in the Montérégie region near the Ontario-Quebec border. The 43-kilometer highway runs from south to north from Rivière-Beaudette at the junction of Route 338 (just south of Autoroute 20) to Rigaud at the junction of Route 342. Saint-Lazare, Quebec
Saint-Lazare is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada in the Regional County Municipality of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. History Originally part of the Seigneurie de Vaudreuil in the 18th century, the territory corresponding to Saint-Lazare was considered difficult to farm owing to sandy soil, and remained mostly uninhabited. In 1812, the first settlers were Americans from New England, then circa 1820 English from Cumberland, followed soon after by French Canadians. Saint-Lazare was founded as a parish municipality on December 29, 1875. The first church was built in 1877, destroyed by a fire in 1942 and subsequently rebuilt in 1947. A passenger train from Canadian Pacific Railway previously ran through the town but was discontinued in 1960. The station located on the corner of Sainte-Angélique and Duhamel was demolished. Pointe-Fortune () is a village municipality in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the Ottawa River (Rivière des Outaouais) in Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality, northwest of Montreal. The population at the 2021 Census was 582. History The area was part of the Seigneury of Rigaud, granted in 1732 to the brothers Pierre and François-Pierre Rigaud de Vaudreuil. Around 1750, they operated a trading post on a point in the Ottawa River, which later became known as Pointe Fortune. The name "Fortune" could refer to Colonel William Fortune who had received a concession in nearby Chatham Township at the end of the 18th century, or to Joseph Fortune, an early 19th century militiaman and surveyor. Saint-Polycarpe, Quebec
Saint-Polycarpe () is a municipality located in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region west of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and just east of the Quebec-Ontario border. It was named for Polycarp, a 2nd-century bishop of Smyrna. The population as of the 2021 Canadian Census was 2,372. While a parish during the 18th century, its territory included portions of what is now part of Saint-Zotique. History Settlement began around 1800 when a sawmill and a flour mill were built at the rapids of the Delisle river. In 1818, a chapel was built there and in 1830, the parish was established, called Saint-Polycarpe de la Nouvelle-Longueuil. Its post office was built in 1846. Saint-Zotique () is a municipality located within the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional County Municipality in the Montérégie region located about 45 minutes west of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is named for Saint Zoticus of Comana. This is a list of the regional county municipalities (RCM or MRC) and equivalent territories (TE) in the province of Quebec, Canada. They are given along with their geographical codes as specified by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy, and the administrative regions to which they belong. RCMs are county-like units of government at the supralocal level. However, not all municipalities belong to an RCM. In order to use RCMs for statistical purposes, some municipalities (mostly Indian reserves) are viewed as belonging to RCMs they do not belong to legally. Sainte-Justine-de-Newton () is a municipality located in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. The population as of the 2021 Canadian census was 947. The municipality is situated on Route 325 south of Très-Saint-Rédempteur, just east of the Ontario border. History In 1805, the geographic township of Newton was created, likely named after Newton Abbot in England. In 1845, the Township Municipality of Newton was formed, but abolished in 1847. In 1855, it was reestablished as the Parish Municipality of Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, combining the names of the parish and the geographic township. In 1865, its post office opened.
