Quebec Route 323
Highway 323 is a highway in Quebec that runs from the junction of Route 148 in Montebello to the junction of Route 117 in Mont-Tremblant. This highway is along the main route from Ottawa and Greater Toronto Area to Mont-Tremblant History Before the bypass was built in 2008, road conditions were often criticized. Several pot holes, and cracks in the asphalt made this narrow road a long trip for many drivers. This section, now bypassing Lac-des-Plages, was opened to traffic in the fall of 2008. The narrow section northeast of Lac-des-Plages closer to Amherst had many turns and was prone to flooding, resulting in Highway 323 being closed on occasion, especially in springtime. It was straightened and realigned away from the river in March 2007. Work involved significant tree cutting and blasting. It was opened in the fall of 2009. Papineauville is a town and municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. It is the seat of the Papineau Regional County Municipality. In 2001 its population was 2247. The municipality is bordered on the north side by the Petite-Nation River and on the south side by Pentecost Bay of the Ottawa River. History The Parish of Sainte-Angélique was formed in 1851, and the parish municipality with the same name was created in 1855. It was named after Angélique-Louise Cornud, wife of Denis-Benjamin Papineau, who donated land for the construction of the church and the rectory. Also in 1855, a post office was established with the name Papineauville. Chénéville is a town and municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Papineau Regional County Municipality. History First settled in the middle of the 19th century, its first post office opened in 1864 under the name Sévigné, perhaps in honour of the Marquise de Sévigné (1626-1696). From 1876 to 1884, the post office was known as Hartwell, and from 1884 on, it became Chénéville. It could be that it was renamed in memory of a nephew of Hercule Chéné who was born around 1864. They are given along with their geographical codes as specified by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy, and the administrative regions to which they belong. History In 1902, the municipality was formed out of sections of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours and Saint-André-Avellin. Although it remains unclear what specific event is referred to in the name of this parish municipality, it followed the theme of municipal names in the Outaouais dedicated to the Virgin Mary, probably due to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who were missionaries and pastors throughout the region.
