Quebec Route 185
Route 185 is part of the Trans-Canada Highway. It travels from Saint-Antonin to Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!, a distance of about . It connects the 2 sections of Autoroute 85 and is the former designation for all of A-85. The southern section of the highway follows the valley of the Madawaska River. At present, Route 185 is a 2-lane highway with passing lanes. Often cited as one of the most dangerous highways in Canada, it is slowly being upgraded to Autoroute standards and is eventually planned to be a 4-lane restricted-access freeway, assuming and extending the existing Autoroute 85 designation. Several sections have been completed and opened as such. Edmundston
Edmundston is a city in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. On 1 January 2023, Edmundston will expanded, annexing the village of Rivière-Verte and parts of the local service districts of the parish of Saint-Jacques and the parish of Saint-Joseph. History During the early colonial period, the area was a camping and meeting place of the Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) Nation during seasonal migrations. From the mid to late eighteenth century, one of the largest Maliseet villages had been established at Madawaska and had become a refuge site for other Wabanaki peoples. The Maliseet village was originally located near the falls at the confluence of the Madawaska and Saint John Rivers. Currently, the City of Edmundston surrounds a federal Indian Reserve (St. Basile 10/Madawaska Maliseet First Nation). New Brunswick Route 2
Route 2 is a major provincial highway in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, carrying the main route of the Trans-Canada Highway in the province. The highway connects with Autoroute 85 at the border with Quebec and Highway 104 at the border with Nova Scotia, as well as with traffic from Interstate 95 in the U.S. state of Maine via the short Route 95 connector. A core route in the National Highway System, Route 2 is a four-lane freeway in its entirety, and directly serves the cities of Edmundston, Fredericton, and Moncton. A 20-year project to replace the original 1960s-era two-lane Trans-Canada Highway with a four-lane freeway was completed on November 1, 2007. The final upgrade to Route 2 and Route 95 has extended the continuous freeway network of North America east to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Route 2 was a previous number used for a major highway in the Canadian province of Quebec. The highway stretched from the Ontario border at Rivière-Beaudette to the New Brunswick border southeast of Dégelis. The highway was part of a de facto interprovincial Route 2 that stretched from Windsor, Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia, connecting Ontario Highway 2 to New Brunswick Route 2, and further to Nova Scotia, connecting with Trunk 2. It was renumbered in the mid-1970s, as part of Quebec's renumbering scheme. Replacement routes Route 2 was replaced by the following routes: Auxiliary routes Route 2 had three auxiliary routes.
