Quality Of Government Institute
The Quality of Government (QoG)-Institute is an independent research institute at the University of Gothenburg. The institute was founded by Professors Bo Rothstein and Sören Holmberg in 2004 and is partly financed by the Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond), the Swedish Science Council (Vetenskapsrådet), and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The main objective the QoG Institute´s research is to address the theoretical and empirical problem of how political institutions of high quality can be created and maintained. Another objective is to study the effects of Quality of Government on a number of policy areas, such as health, the environment, social policy, and poverty. Bo Rothstein
Bo Abraham Mendel Rothstein (born 12 June 1954) is a Swedish political scientist. He is a former Professor of Government and Public Policy at University of Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government. Rothstein is a contributor to Swedish public debate about politics and academic freedom. He has been especially critical of what he perceives as politicized research at some universities in Sweden. In 2003, he received the Swedish Association of University Teachers' prize for academic freedom. Rothstein received the prize for having "in the public debate argued for the importance of independent university teaching and research". Rothstein is a critic of postmodernism and identity politics. Knut And Alice Wallenberg Foundation
Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) ( sv, Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse) is a Swedish public and private foundation formed in 1917 by Knut Agathon Wallenberg and his wife Alice Wallenberg. It was created to support research in the natural sciences, technology and medicine by awarding long-term grants to basic research of the highest international class. Governance From its start in 1917 to 1971 the board members of the Foundation were mostly from the Wallenberg family. In 1971 a Council of Principals was established which changed the membership pattern, and the academics began to serve as board members of the KAW.
