Qixia District
Qixia District () is one of 11 districts of Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, China, straddling both sides of the Yangtze River. It has an area of 80 km2 and a population of 400,000. Natural and historical sites Qixia Mountain is in Qixia District. Qixia Temple, a Southern Tang Buddhist temple, is there. During the Qing dynasty, the Qianlong Emperor praised it as the most elegant mountain in Jinling. A number of Liang dynasty tombs are in the district, primarily in and around the Ganjiaxiang section of the district. Among them, particularly well known is that of Xiao Xiu (475–518), containing one of the best surviving sets of the period's statuary. The term ''district'', in the context of China, is used to refer to several unrelated political divisions in both ancient and modern China. In the modern context, district (), formally city-governed district, city-controlled district, or municipal district (), are subdivisions of a municipality or a prefecture-level city. The rank of a district derives from the rank of its city. Xiao Xiu
Xiao Xiu (), formally Prince Kang of Ancheng ( (475–518), was a younger half-brother of Xiao Yan (Emperor Wu), the founder of the Liang dynasty of China. According to the ''Book of Liang'', he was the 7th son of Xiao Yan's father Xiao Shunzhi. Xiao Xiu is said to have been a disciple of the Buddhist monk Daodu (道度, 462–527). Central Business District
A central business district (CBD) is the commercial and business centre of a city. It contains commercial space and offices, and in larger cities will often be described as a financial district. Geographically, it often coincides with the "city centre" or "downtown". Nanjing International School
Nanjing International School is a non-profit International school in Xian Lin College and University Town (), Qixia District, Nanjing, enrolling children age 3 to 18, Pre Kindergarten to Grade 12. There are around 620 students from over 30 countries. The school offers first language German instruction in Secondary School. History The school was opened by a small group of expatriate parents on October 14, 1992, with five students ranging from Grades 1 to 5. Parents established the school because they wanted to provide English language education for their children. In 1996 the school was officially registered by the Nanjing authorities, so its name changed from Nanjing American School to Nanjing International School. After three years in rented rooms at the Nanjing Foreign Language School (NFLS), the enrollment at the Nanjing International School had expanded, requiring more space than the two classrooms at NFLS.
