Qasim Rashid
Qasim Rashid (born July 21, 1982) is a Pakistani-born American author, activist, and attorney. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he is currently running for the Democratic nomination for Illinois's 11th congressional district for 2024 United States House of Representatives elections, 2024. Previously, Rashid was an unsuccessful candidate for the Virginia State Senate in 2019 and the Democratic nominee for Virginia's 1st congressional district in the 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in Virginia, 2020 election. Early life and education Rashid was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, in 1982. His father was an Ahmadiyya missionary. In 1987, he moved with his family to the United States, where they lived in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Illinois. Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi ( or ; Urdu, ) is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the fourth largest city in Pakistan after Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad, and third largest in Punjab after Lahore and Faisalabad. Rawalpindi is next to Pakistan's capital Islamabad, and the two are jointly known as the "twin cities" because of the social and economic links between them.
