Q Division Studios
Q Division Studios is a recording studio located in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1986, Q Division was originally located at 443 Albany Street in Boston, but moved to its current two-studio facility in 2000. Bands that have recorded at Q Division include Pixies, who recorded their debut album ''Surfer Rosa'' at the studio. Loveless (American Band)
Loveless was a Boston-based indie rock band. Releasing records on Q Division Records, the band was composed of Dave Wanamaker and Pete Armata, both of the 1990s rock band Expanding Man, Jen Trynin, and Tom Polce from Letters to Cleo. Formation The band formed as a project by Wanamaker and Armata in 1999. They both recruited Polce to play drums, and Wanamaker successfully included Trynin in a guitar-playing/ back-up vocalist role. In 2000, the band, named after the My Bloody Valentine album ''Loveless'', threw together a 5-song EP, featuring four tracks that would appear on their future full-length album, and one other track, "Natural." During this time, the band began to tour around the Northeast area, playing a few shows every month, especially in New York City and Boston, where the members resided. Eli "Paperboy" Reed
Eli "Paperboy" Reed (born 1983 as Eli Husock) is an American singer and songwriter. After graduating from Brookline High School in 2002, he moved to Clarksdale, Mississippi. After spending a year in Clarksdale, he enrolled at The University of Chicago to study sociology. While in Chicago, he hosted a radio show called "We Got More Soul" on WHPK and played organ and piano in the South Side Chicago church of Mitty Collier. After one year of study in Chicago, he returned home to Boston to focus on music, recording his first album ''Sings "Walkin' and Talkin' for My Baby" and Other Smash Hits!'' After his album release and his live shows, Reed signed with Somerville, Massachusetts based record label, Q Division Records. Anne Heaton (folk Singer)
Anne Heaton is an American pop-influenced folk singer-songwriter and pianist from New York City. She majored in liberal studies at the Notre Dame, and grew up in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette. She regularly toured with "Live from New York" on the eastern coast of the United States. In 2007, Heaton moved to Boston, and generally tours and performs with multi-instrumentalist Frank Marotta. Early life Anne Heaton grew up in Wilmette, IL, a suburb of Chicago and started playing piano at the age of 3. She was trained in classical music and turned down a scholarship to study at Boston's Berklee School of Music in classical piano. In an interview with The New York Times Online, Heaton said she gave up classical piano because she found it too inhibiting and exact. Thinking she would one day be a philosophy professor, Heaton pursued philosophy and theology at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Gigolo Aunts are an American power pop band, who formed in 1981. Biography Early history The band was formed by middle school students Steve Hurley, Dave Gibbs, Phil Hurley, and Paul Brouwer in 1981 in Potsdam, New York, United States, originally known as Sniper. In 1986, their name changed to Gigolo Aunts (after the Syd Barrett song, "Gigolo Aunt", from his 1970 album '' Barrett'') and became a staple on the Northern New York music scene, gaining a reputation for frenetic live sets that featured the close harmonies of the Hurley brothers and Gibbs. In the summer of 1987 the band relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, and within a year were signed to Hoboken's Coyote Records (then home of the Feelies and Yo La Tengo). Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Francine is an indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. History Francine was founded by Clayton Scoble, who previously performed with Til Tuesday and Aimee Mann, and was a member of Poundcake and Colortone.
