''Quit Staring at My Plate'' ( hr, Ne gledaj mi u pijat) is a 2016 Croatian-Danish drama film written and directed by Hana Jušić. The film premiered in the Venice Days section at the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival, in which it was awarded the Fedeora Award for Best European Film. It was selected as the Croatian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Plot After her domineering father has a stroke, a 24-year-old woman becomes the sole breadwinner of a family. She adjusts to her newfound role and the freedom that it gives. An overbearing responsibility of supporting her entitled mother and lazy older brother who the family has treated as disabled breaks and mends her from time to time. Hana Jušić (born 1983) is a Croatian film director and screenwriter. A native of Šibenik, Jušić moved to Zagreb as a child. She majored in comparative literature and English studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Known earlier in her career for her short films, Jušić received high acclaim for her 2016 feature film debut, ''Quit Staring at My Plate''. 73rd Venice International Film Festival
The 73rd annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 31 August to 10 September 2016. English director Sam Mendes was the President of the Jury for the main competition. The opening night film was Damien Chazelle's musical ''La La Land''. The Golden Lion was awarded to Lav Diaz's film ''The Woman Who Left''. A new project named Venice Production Bridge was introduced in this edition of the festival. Zlatko Burić
Zlatko Burić (born 13 May 1953) is a Croatian-Danish actor. He was born in Osijek where he was educated at the Dramski Studio in 1972. In the 1970s and early 1980s, Burić belonged to the experimental theater group Kugla Glumište (formed in 1975) together with Željko Zorica-Šiš and Damir Bartol-Indoš. This is a list of submissions to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue.
