Alan Quirke
Alan Quirke (born 19 October 1976 in Innishannon, County Cork, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Valley Rovers and was a member of the Cork senior inter-county team from 1999 to 2013. Playing career Club Quirke plays Gaelic football with his local club Valley Rovers and has enjoyed much success with the great club. It was with UCC, however, that he tasted his first major success on the football field. In 1999 Quirke was the goalkeeper on the university's senior football team. That year UCC qualified for the county championship final. Footballing kingpins Nemo Rangers provided the opposition, however, that game ended in a draw. The replay saw UCC prove too strong for Nemo and a merited 1–11 to 1–8 victory gave Quirke a county senior championship winners' medal. John Quirke
John Andrew Quirke (born 9 September 1950) is a former Australian politician. He served as a Senator for South Australia from 1997 to 2000, representing the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He previously served in the South Australian House of Assembly from 1989 to 1997, holding the seat of Playford. Early life Quirke was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England, the son of Mary () and William Patrick Quirke. His father was a fitter at a shipbuilding company on the Mersey. The family immigrated to Australia as Ten Pound Poms in 1959. They settled in Adelaide, South Australia, where Quirke attended Elizabeth High School. He subsequently graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education. From 1973 to 1977 Quirke was a history teacher at Craigmore High School. Johnny Quirke
John Quirke (2 May 1911 – 24 August 1983) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Quirke made his first appearance for the team during the 1932 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1946 championship. During that time, he won four All-Ireland medals, four Munster medals and two National League medals. Quirke was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level, Quirke was a three-time county club championship medalist with Blackrock. Quirke's sister, Dolly Leahy, was an All-Ireland medalist in camogie with Cork. Playing career Club Quirke played his club hurling with the famous Blackrock club and enjoyed much success. Micheál 'Mike' Quirke (born 1980 in Tralee, County Kerry) is an Irish people, Irish former sportsperson and Gaelic football Manager (Gaelic games), manager. He played football for the Kerins O'Rahilly's GAA, Kerins O'Rahilly's club and was a member of the Kerry county football team, Kerry county team from 2003 onwards. He also played basketball. Michael James Quirke (born 10 September 1991) is a footballer who plays as a defender for Coventry United. A Coventry City youth product, he used to be a goalkeeper. Born in England, he made one appearance for the Republic of Ireland U21 national team in 2011. Percy Quirke
Percival Hillam Quirke (29 July 1898 – 25 March 1972) was an Australian politician. A farmer and soldier prior to entering politics, Quirke contested the normally safely conservative federal seat of Wakefield in a 1938 by-election as an independent. He finished a distant third on the primary vote, with 22.8 percent behind former Liberal and Country League Premier Richard Layton Butler and Labor challenger Sydney McHugh. However, on the second count, almost 83 percent of his preferences flowed to McHugh, enough for McHugh to decisively defeat Butler with 56 percent of the two-party vote. Quirke later won the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Stanley, serving from 1941 to 1948 as a Labor member. He left Labor in 1948 and continued to contest and win the seat of Stanley as an independent. William Quirke
William Quirke (c.1896 – 5 March 1955) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and a senior revolutionary figure in County Tipperary during the Irish War of Independence. Early life Born in Clonmel, he was educated at Rockwell College, County Tipperary.
