Quirino Armellini
Quirino Armellini (31 January 1889 in Legnaro – 13 January 1975 in Rome) was an Italian Officer (armed forces), military officer, who served as a General officer, general in both the Royal Italian Army and the Italian Army. Biography Armellini was commissioned into the Royal Italian Army as a second lieutenant in 1908, after graduating from the Military Academy of Modena, and participated in the Italo-Turkish War and the World War I. After serving under the command of Pietro Badoglio in the Second Italo-Ethiopian War against the Ethiopian Empire, Armellini was appointed commander of the Italian African Police (PAI) in the Italian East Africa (AOI). Quirino, officially the Municipality of Quirino ( ilo, Ili ti Quirino; fil, Bayan ng Quirino), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 9,306 people. Formerly known as Angaki (also spelled Angkaki in some sources), the municipality was renamed in June 1964 to Quirino in honor of Elpidio Quirino, an Ilocos Sur native who served as the sixth President of the Philippines. Elpidio Quirino Avenue, also known simply as Quirino Avenue, is a major north-south collector road in Parañaque, southern Metro Manila, Philippines. It is a four-lane undivided arterial running parallel to Roxas Boulevard and its extension, the Manila–Cavite Expressway, to the west from Baclaran at Parañaque's border with Pasay in the north to San Dionisio, Parañaque, San Dionisio right by the border with Las Piñas in the south. President Elpidio Quirino Avenue, more commonly known as Quirino Avenue, is a 6-10 lane divided highway in Manila, Philippines. It runs for in a northeast–southwest direction from Nagtahan Bridge (now Mabini Bridge) across from Santa Mesa in the north to Roxas Boulevard in Malate in the south. It passes through Paco and Pandacan districts where it also serves as a truck route between Port Area and South Luzon Expressway. North of Nagtahan Bridge, the road continues as Nagtahan Street. The Teatro Quirino is an opera house in Rome opened in 1871. It hosted the premiere of Pietro Mascagni's operetta '' Sì''. Its historical name has been joined by the recognition for one of the most acclaimed Italian theatrical actors of the twentieth century, Vittorio Gassman. Quirino station (also known as Quirino Avenue station) is an elevated Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) station situated on Line 1. The station serves Malate in Manila and is located at the meeting point of Taft Avenue, Quirino Avenue, and San Andres Street. The station is named after Quirino Avenue, which is in turn named after former president Elpidio Quirino.
