Quille Du Diable
The Quille du Diable (lit. "devil's skittle"; also known as Tour St-Martin) is a peak of the Diablerets massif, located on the border of the municipalities of Conthey and Savièse in the canton of Valais. It lies on the edge of the high Tsanfleuron Glacier plateau and overlooks the valley around of Derborence lower. At the foot of the Quille du Diable is the restaurant ''Refuge l'Espace''. Diablerets
The Diablerets (french: Les Diablerets; lit. "the abode of devils") are a huge ice-covered mountain massif of the Alps, culminating at the Sommet des Diablerets (VD, VS) at above sea level and straddling the border between the Swiss cantons of Vaud (VD) and Valais (VS). The northeastern part of the massif stretches also into the canton of Bern (BE). The Diablerets massif, which consists of several peaks, extends for about 10 kilometres near the western extremity of the Bernese Alps, between the two deep passes, the Cheville Pass () right below the main summit to the south, and the Sanetsch/Sénin Pass () to the east. Tsanfleuron Glacier
The Tsanfleuron Glacier (french: Glacier de Tsanfleuron, german: Tsanfleurongletscher) is a long glacier (2005) situated in the western Bernese Alps in the cantons of Valais and Vaud in Switzerland. In 1973 it had an area of . It culminates at the Dôme, at approximately 3,000 metres above sea level, where it is separated from the Diablerets Glacier. The lowest point is at approx. 2,500 metres. The glacier is overlooked by the Scex Rouge and the Oldenhorn on the north, and by the Quille du Diable on the south. Most of the glacier is used as a ski area and is better known under the name of the company operating the ski area ''Glacier 3000'' or ''Glacier des Diablerets'' (the latter is in fact a nearby smaller glacier on the summit of the Diablerets). Derborence
Derborence is a hamlet in the municipality of Conthey, in the canton of Valais, in Switzerland. It is located at 1,450 metres in an isolated valley on the south side of the Bernese Alps and is not permanently inhabited. Derborence is completely surrounded by mountains: The Diablerets (highest) on the north, Haut de Cry on the south and Mont Gond on the east. Derborence can be reached by a road from Conthey, or by foot from Gryon, using the Pas de Cheville. Lake Derborence was formed in 1749 after two landslides coming from the south wall of the Diablerets. Thousands of tons of rock came crashing down from a height of 1900 metres in 1714 and 1749, coming to 400 metres below and forming a 2 kilometre-long natural barrier which gradually filled with water.
