Queensland State League (association Football)
The Queensland State League, often abbreviated to the QSL, was a men's semi-professional soccer league in the Australian state of Queensland. The league was created by the state's governing body, Football Queensland, in 2008, to fill the gap between the national league (A-League) and the various city and regional leagues in the State. It was replaced in 2013 by the National Premier League Queensland as part of a wider introduction of the National Premier Leagues across the Australian soccer league system. The QSL was conducted across Queensland during the winter season and administered by Football Queensland. The league replaced the State Cup, which was held from 2004 to 2007 as an end-of-season tournament for teams representing the various regional zones. The QSL was intended as the showcase for the state's elite talent, to provide a pathway from club soccer to the national ranks and a means of bringing soccer more into the media spotlight. Asian Football Confederation
The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in Oceania Football Confederation, OFC, joined AFC in 2006. Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, both Territories of the United States, territories of the United States, are also AFC members that are geographically in Oceania. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC who managed women's association football in Asia. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia. Mareeba, Queensland
Mareeba is a rural town and locality in the Shire of Mareeba in Far North Queensland, Australia. Between 2008 and 2013, it was within the Tablelands Region. The town's name is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning ''meeting of the waters''. Geography The town is above sea level on the confluence of the Barron River, Granite Creek and Emerald Creek. Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. Capricorn Cougars were an Australian football club from Rockhampton, Queensland who played in the Queensland State League. History The Capricorn Cougars were one of ten foundation teams in the QSL formed in 2008. In 2008 the Capricorn Cougars coach was Justin Kilshaw. He resigned after round 4 after conflict occurred between the coaches objectives and outcomes for the team, in comparison to the Boards requirements on player selections for the team. The current coach is Bradley Smith, who is a locally grown coach with great knowledge of the region. Queensland Premier League
The Football Queensland Premier League (known by its abbreviation FQPL) is a men's football competition contested by clubs in Queensland, Australia. It is administered by Football Queensland and is the second tier of football in Queensland, operated by a system of promotion and relegation. The league is contested by 11 clubs each season, the team that finishes at the top of the league is crowned premiers and they are promoted to the Queensland National Premier League, whilst the bottom three teams are relegated to the Football Queensland Premier League 2. The teams that finish in the top four qualify for a finals tournament, where the winners of the bracket are crowned FQPL champions.
