Queen's University Association Football Club is an intermediate, Northern Irish football club playing in the NIFL Premier Intermediate League. History The club, founded in 1910, a founder member of the Irish League B Division, is affiliated to Queen's University Belfast, and plays home matches at the newly built Arena at the Queen's University sports grounds, Upper Malone, Belfast - also known as "the Dub". From 2003-2011, the club played its home matches at Newforge Lane, the home of PSNI F.C., while the new stadium at the Dub was being constructed. The team play in white shirts and black shorts/socks. The away kit is all blue. The University allows for a 25% non association with regards to playing staff whilst the other 75% are required to have studied, or be studying, at Queen's University Belfast. Upper Malone
Upper Malone, also known as the Dub, is a multi-sport facility owned by Queen's University Belfast. There are fourteen outdoor pitches together with the Arena Pitch, which is the home ground of the university's football, rugby union and Gaelic football teams. Collingwood Cup
The Collingwood Cup is an association football cup competition featuring university teams from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is organised by the Irish Universities Football Union, and is the oldest surviving all Ireland association football competition. University College Dublin were the inaugural winners, and later became the cup's most successful team. The competition has been played almost annually since 1914, taking a break during the First World War/ Irish War of Independence era and again in 1932 and 1933 due to a dispute between the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Ireland. In 2014 the Collingwood Cup celebrated its centenary with a dinner that featured Martin O'Neill as a guest speaker. The 2014 final was broadcast live on Setanta Sports and the tournament was sponsored by Eircom. Shayne Francis Lavery (born 8 December 1998) is a Northern Irish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Blackpool and the Northern Ireland national team. He has previously played for Everton, Falkirk and Linfield. Early and personal life Lavery attended St Michael's Grammar School in Lurgan. His older brother Conor played youth football for Manchester United. Club career Lavery played youth football for Oxford Sunnyside, Portadown and Glenavon. He was an unused substitute for Glenavon's first team in December 2014. In March 2015, Lavery moved to Everton following a successful trial.
