Pūkeko Pictures
Pūkeko Pictures is a New Zealand based entertainment company. It produces a mix of live-action, animated, games and picture books for the global entertainment market. It was created as a partnership between the co-founders of Weta Workshop, Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger; and author, illustrator and producer Martin Baynton. Their first collaboration was ''Jane and the Dragon'', a CGI TV series about a girl and her pet dragon. Their subsequent television series ''The WotWots'' was nominated in 2012 for "Best Animated Television Production – Preschool" in the 2012 Annie Awards. Clive Spink was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2015. In 2012, the studio inked a first look deal with FremantleMedia. Richard Taylor (filmmaker)
Sir Richard Leslie Taylor (born 8 February 1965) is the founder, creative director and head of New Zealand film prop and special effects company Wētā Workshop. Early life Taylor was born in Cheadle, Cheshire, England, on 8 February 1965, and emigrated as a child to New Zealand, where his family lived at Te Hihi, and later the Auckland suburb of Patumahoe. He was naturalised as a New Zealand citizen in 1974. Taylor studied at Wesley College, Paerata, and then became a graduate of the former Wellington Polytechnic. Career Peter Jackson, Taylor and his company created all of the props, costumes, prosthetics, miniatures and weaponry for Jackson's epic ''The Lord of the Rings'' film trilogy. Annie Awards
The Annie Awards are accolades which the Los Angeles branch of the International Animated Film Association, ASIFA-Hollywood, has presented each year since 1972 to recognize excellence in animation shown in cinema and television. Originally designed to celebrate lifetime or career contributions to animation, the award has been given to individual works since 1992. Membership in ASIFA-Hollywood is divided into three main categories: General Member (for professionals), Patron (for enthusiasts of animation), and Student Member. Martin Baynton
Martin Baynton is a British author, illustrator, and TV producer now living in New Zealand. His children's book Jane and the Dragon (1988), has become a modern classic which has since been adapted for television and produced by Weta Workshop and Nelvana. His books have been widely published in the UK, US, Spain, France, New Zealand and Australia. Baynton has also illustrated books by other leading writers including Russell Hoban and Kenneth Grahame. In addition to writing and illustrating children's books, Baynton has been a producer, writer and director for the stage, TV and radio.
