Pyrgos, Elis
Pyrgos ( el, Πύργος, meaning "tower") is a city in the northwestern Peloponnese, Greece, capital of the regional unit of Elis and the seat of the Municipality of Pyrgos. The city is located in the middle of a plain, from the Ionian Sea. The river Alfeios flows into sea about south of Pyrgos. The population of the town Pyrgos is 25,180, and of the municipality 47,995 (2011). Pyrgos is west of Olympia, southeast of Amaliada, southwest of Patras and west of Tripoli. Varvasaina
Varvasaina ( el, Βαρβάσαινα) is a village and a community in the eastern part of the municipality of Pyrgos, Elis, Greece. The community consists of the villages Varvasaina and Kato Varvasaina. It is situated in a valley between low hills, 3 km southeast of Koliri, 3 km northwest of Salmoni, 5 km north of Epitalio and 5 km east of Pyrgos town centre. The Greek National Road 74 (Pyrgos - Olympia - Tripoli) passes south of the village. The railway from Pyrgos to Kalamata and Olympia passes through Kato Varvasaina. Skourochori ( el, Σκουροχώρι) is a village and a community in the municipality of Pyrgos, Elis, Greece. In 2011, it had a population of 610 for the village, and 782 for the community (including the village Kato Kavouri). It is situated near the Ionian Sea, at the foot of a low hill. Skafidia ( el, Σκαφιδιά) is a village and a community in the municipality of Pyrgos, Elis, Greece. It is situated on the Ionian Sea coast, at the foot of a low hill. It is 1 km north of Leventochori, 3 km southwest of Myrtia and 11 km northwest of Pyrgos. In 2011, Skafidia had a population of 122 for the village and 211 for the community, which includes the small villages Kalakaiika and Patronikolaiika. Salmoni ( el, Σαλμώνη, before 1915: Κούκουρα - ''Koukoura'') is a village and a community in the municipality of Pyrgos, Elis, Greece. According to the 2011 census, the village had 612 inhabitants and the community, including the village Alfeios, 643. It is situated in low hills on the right bank of the river Alfeios, at 70 m elevation. It is 2 km southwest of Strefi, 3 km southeast of Varvasaina and 8 km east of Pyrgos. Koliri
Koliri, ( el, Κολίρι) is a village and a community in the municipality of Pyrgos, Elis, Greece. It is situated on a hillside, 3 km northeast of Pyrgos town centre and 3 km northwest of Varvasaina. The Greek National Road 74 (Tripoli – Olympia – Pyrgos) passes south of the village. Its population, according to the 2011 census, is 621 for the village, and 979 for the community, which includes the village Kolireikes Parangges. It has two churches: the Church of Saint Nicholas and the Church of the Saints Theodore. Its elevation is 90 m. Koliri suffered damage from the fires of August 2007. Koliri has a football team called Anatoli (meaning Sunrise in Greek), which plays in the local championships.
