Pyidaungsu Sithu Thingaha
The Order of the Union of Myanmar ( my, ပြည်ထောင်စုစည်သူသင်္ဂဟ ) is the highest civilian decoration bestowed by the government of Myanmar (also known as Burma). The order was founded on 2 September 1948 as a replacement for the British Order of Burma. The original order had been founded by Royal Warrant on 10 May 1940. The title ''Pyidaungsu Sithu Thingaha'' may be used by the awardee. U Thant
Thant (; ; January 22, 1909 – November 25, 1974), known honorifically as U Thant (), was a Burmese diplomat and the third secretary-general of the United Nations from 1961 to 1971, the first non-Scandinavian to hold the position. He held the office for a record 10 years and one month. A native of Pantanaw, Thant was educated at the National High School and at Rangoon University. In the days of tense political climate in Burma, he held moderate views positioning himself between fervent nationalists and British loyalists. He was a close friend of Burma's first Prime Minister U Nu and served in various positions in Nu's cabinet from 1948 to 1961. The Thiri Thudhamma Thingaha or the Order of Thiri Thudhamma ( my, သီရိသုဓမ္မသင်္ဂဟ, ''Thirí Thúdanma Thingăhá''; , from pi, sudhamma saṅgaha) was the highest Burmese commendation during the AFPFL era. Kyi Soe Tun ( my, ကြည်စိုးထွန်း, ; born 9 December 1945) is a five-time Myanmar Academy Award winning film director, producer and screenwriter of Burmese cinema. Khin Maung Nyunt ( my, ခင်မောင်ညွန့်; born 13 May 1929) is a Burmese writer and historian. Birth and education Khin Maung Nyunt was born in Mandalay on May 13, 1929. He joined Mandalay College in 1948, and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1952. He obtained the position of Tutor at Yangon University in the Department of Modern History and Political Science and by 1954 obtained a B.A. from Yangon University which was followed by an M.A. a year later. In 1956 he won a scholarship from the Myanmar government to pursue postgraduate studies overseas at the London School of Economics, where he obtained a Doctorate in International Relations in 1960. Brigadier General Aung Gyi ( my, အောင်ကြီး ; 16 February 1919 – 25 October 2012) was a Burmese military officer and politician. He was a cofounder of the National League for Democracy and served as president of the party. Early life He was born to a Burmese Chinese family in Paungde, British Burma in 1919. Soe Win ( my, စိုးဝင်း; ; born 1 March 1961) is a Burmese army general and current Deputy Prime Minister of Myanmar following the formation of the caretaker government on 1 August 2021. He also serves as vice chairman of the State Administration Council, deputy commander-in-chief of the Tatmadaw (Myanmar armed forces) and commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Army.
