Puteri Gunung Ledang (film)
''Puteri Gunung Ledang'' is a 2004 Malaysian Epic film, epic Fantasy film, fantasy period film directed by Saw Teong Hin. The film is based on the Malay legend of the Legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang, Gunung Ledang princess, who is said to have lived on top of Mount Ophir, Gunung Ledang, and a Sultanate of Malacca, Malaccan sultan's effort to court her. The film stars Tiara Jacquelina (who also co-produces it alongside Shazalli Ramly), M. Nasir and Adlin Aman Ramlie. It was the first big-budget Malaysian movie ever made, with a production cost of US$4 million. Development Mamat Khalid pitched the original idea of creating a love story between the Princess of Mount Ledang and legendary warrior Hang Tuah for a television series called ''Hikayat''. Saw Teong Hin () is a Malaysian film director, best known for directing the Malay language epic fantasy film ''Puteri Gunung Ledang (film), Puteri Gunung Ledang'' and ''You Mean the World to Me (film), You Mean the World to Me'', the first Malaysian film filmed entirely in Hokkien. Early life and education Saw was born in George Town, Penang in the year of 1962 to Quah Cheng Sooi and Saw Seng Chuan; both Hoklo people, Hokkien people. Taming Sari
Taming Sari (which means "flower shield", "beautiful shield" or "the main shield" in Malay is a famous kris in Malay folklore. It is believed to have been wielded by the legendary Malaccan warrior Hang Tuah, and is fabled to grant physical invulnerability to its wielder. Description The Kris Taming Sari was said to have been made of 21 different types of metal. The whole of the ''sampir'' (upper wooden part) and ''batang'' (lower part of the wooden sheath), was covered in gold leaf. Mahmud Shah Of Malacca
Sultan Mahmud Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah (died 1528) ruled the Sultanate of Malacca from 1488 to 1511, and again as pretender to the throne from 1513 to 1528. He was son to Sultan Alauddin Riayat Shah of Malacca, Alauddin Riayat Shah. As a monarch, he was known to be ruthless ruler. After the capture of Malacca and the downfall of the century long sultanate; Mahmud left for Bintan and became a leader of a small confederacy which led attacks against Portuguese-occupied Malacca in the late 1510s.
