Put 'Em Under Pressure (TV Series)
''Put 'Em Under Pressure'' is an Irish panel game with a sporting theme hosted by Gráinne Seoige which started on RTÉ One on 18 September 2011. The show's name is taken from "Put 'Em Under Pressure", the official song to the Republic of Ireland national football team's 1990 World Cup campaign. It involves a team of well-known sports pundits battle against a team of Irish sports stars answering questions on their own and other sports. Each team has a resident captain, each of whom is joined by two guest stars. Presenters and team members Gráinne Seoige hosted the show. The team captains were former Kerry Gaelic footballer Pat Spillane and National Hunt champion jockey Ruby Walsh. Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh
Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh (; born 20 August 1930) is an Irish Gaelic games commentator for the Irish national radio and television, RTÉ. In a career that has spanned six decades he has come to be regarded as the "voice of Gaelic games." He has been described as a national treasure. His prolific career has earned him a place in ''Guinness World Records''. Early life Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh was born in Dún Síon just outside Dingle, County Kerry in 1930. Ó Muircheartaigh grew up on the family farm and was educated locally in Dingle. In September 1945 he began studying at Coláiste Íosagáin in Baile Bhúirne in the County Cork Gaeltacht where he was in training to be a teacher. It was at this all-Irish school that his name changed from Michael Moriarty to the Irish version Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Conor Niland
Conor Niland (born 19 September 1981) is an Irish former professional tennis player. He was born in Birmingham, England, and grew up in Limerick, Ireland. He attended St. Nessan's National School in Mungret, Co. Limerick, before moving on to Crescent College Comprehensive in Dooradoyle, Co. Limerick. He was the highest ranked Irish tennis player during his career. He played for the Ireland Davis Cup team from 2000 to 2012. He officially announced his retirement from tennis on 12 April 2012 due to a recurring hip injury. In a statement Niland said: "I am today sadly announcing my retirement from professional tennis. I have been suffering from labral tears in both hip cartilages and this has resulted in pain and restricted movement for the past nine months." Mick Dowling
Michael Dowling (born 17 December 1946) is an Irish former international boxer and current boxing commentator and analyst. He hails from Castlecomer, County Kilkenny. Boxing career Dowling boxed internationally for Ireland fifty times including at the 1968 Mexico and 1972 Munich Olympic Games. He boxed in the bantamweight (54 kg) division. In the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, Dowling was beaten by Cuba's ultimate gold medallist Orlando Martínez to the quarter-finals. Dowling holds two European Bronze Medals (from 1969 and 1971) and still holds the record for eight consecutive National Elite titles in the same weight division. He has nine national titles in total from the Irish Amateur Boxing Association. Kevin McStay
Kevin McStay (born 9 May 1962) is an Irish Gaelic football manager, commentator, analyst and former player. He has been manager of the senior Mayo county team since 2022. McStay was educated at St Jarlath's College in Tuam during the 1970s, playing for the school team. In retirement from playing McStay became an analyst with ''The Sunday Game''; however, he remained involved as a manager and coach. Christy O'Connor Jnr
Christy O'Connor Jnr (born Christopher O'Connor; 19 August 1948 – 6 January 2016) was an Irish professional golfer. He is best known for defeating American Fred Couples at the 1989 Ryder Cup, helping Europe secure the trophy. Early life O'Connor was born in Knocknacarra, Ireland in 1948. Knocknacarra is a village in Salthill that is within County Galway. He was the son of Elizabeth (née Noone) and John O'Connor. The family farmed cattle and pigs near a golf club. Bernard Dunne
Bernard Dunne (born 6 February 1980) is an Irish former professional boxer and a former WBA (Regular), and European Super Bantamweight champion. On Saturday 21 March 2009, Dunne defeated Ricardo Cordoba in the 11th round to become the WBA (Regular) super bantamweight champion in a fight that won ESPN's 2009 Fight of The Year with 6 knockdowns occurring in the fight between the two fighters (4 for Dunne and 2 for Cordoba). Dan Shanahan
Daniel Shanahan (born 4 January 1977) is an Irish former hurler. He has been a selector with the Waterford county team since 2013. Born in Lismore, County Waterford, Shanahan was introduced to hurling by his father, a former hurler with Waterford. He was a Harty Cup runner-up with Lismore CBS while simultaneously enjoying championship successes at senior level with the Lismore club. Shanahan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Waterford minor team. Conleth 'Con' Murphy (born 30 January 1966) is an Irish freelance radio and television presenter, working mainly on sports programming. Until recently he presented '' Monday Night Soccer'' on RTÉ Two, the League of Ireland highlights show which also includes highlights of Republic of Ireland soccer matches. Raymond James Houghton (born 9 January 1962) is a former professional footballer and current sports analyst and commentator with RTÉ Sport. Patrick Joseph Bonner (born 24 May 1960) is an Irish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper and spent his entire career at Celtic. He earned a total of 80 caps for the Republic of Ireland national football team after making his debut on his 21st birthday.
