Pustki (band)
Pustki is a Polish alternative rock band founded in 1999 in Ostrówek, and based in Warsaw since 2007. The line-up consists of Radek Łukasiewicz, Grzegorz Śluz and Barbara Wrońska. Pustki were hailed 'Band of the Year' 2008 by Polskie Radio Program III and ''Pulp'' magazine, and received nominations for Fryderyk award and Paszport Polityki. History The band was founded in August 1999 in Ostrówek by guitarist Radek Łukasiewicz, drummer Grzegorz Śluz and vocalist and bassist Janek Piętka. They were joined by percussionist Milena Łukasiewicz and keyboardist Daniel Pigoński. Pustki's debut album ''Studio Pustki'', promoted by the song "Patyczak", was released in 2001 and gathered positive reviews from music critics. In 2002, Milena Łukasiewicz and Daniel Pigoński left the band. Janek Piętka gave up bass guitar to play the keyboards, and the line-up was completed by bassist Filip Zawada. Bolesław Leśmian
Bolesław Leśmian (born Bolesław Lesman; January 22, 1877The exact date of his birth is disputed: the act of birth mentions 1877, Leśmian himself used 1878, while the date mentioned on his tombstone is 1879. – November 5, 1937) was a Polish poet, artist and member of the Polish Academy of Literature, one of the first poets to introduce Symbolism and Expressionism to Polish verse. Though largely a marginal figure during his lifetime, Leśmian is now considered one of Poland's greatest poets. Alwernia
Alwernia is a town situated some west of Kraków in the Chrzanów County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland. The town has an area of , and as of December 2021 it has a population of 3,310. History The name of the town is taken from that of the Franciscan hermitage of La Verna ( la, Alvernia) in Tuscany, Italy. It was bestowed on the locality in 1616 by the castellan Krzysztof Koryciński. A monastery of the order of the Stigmata of Saint Francis of Assisi was built on high ground between 1625 and 1656. Katarzyna Nosowska
Katarzyna (Kasia) Nosowska (born 30 August 1971, Szczecin) is the lead singer of the Polish rock band Hey. She is also known for her solo career, which in contrast to Hey's guitar-driven rock delves more into electronica. Apart from penning Hey's lyrics, she is also a columnist in several Polish magazines. Władysław Broniewski
Władysław Kazimierz Broniewski (17 December 1897, Płock – 10 February 1962, Warsaw) was a Polish poet, writer, translator and soldier. Known for his revolutionary and patriotic writings. Life He was the son of Antoni, a bank clerk. As a young man, Broniewski joined in 1915 the legions of Józef Piłsudski. As a member of the 1st Legions Infantry Regiment, he participated in the Polish–Soviet War and in 1920 fought in the Battle of Białystok. He was decorated for bravery with the order of Virtuti Militari. Broniewski developed leftist sympathies and by the late 1920s he was a revolutionary poet. In summer 1931, he was arrested during a literary meeting of writers connected with the Communist Party of Poland (KPP) along with Jan Hempel and Aleksander Wat. He was helped by Bolesław Wieniawa-Długoszowski. When Poland was attacked in 1939 by Germany, he wrote an important poem encouraging Poles to put away political differences and fight the aggressors.
