Purity Of Essence (Hoodoo Gurus Album)
''Purity of Essence'' is the ninth studio album by Australian group Hoodoo Gurus. It was released on 12 March 2010 and peaked at No. 16 on the ARIA Charts. The album was co-produced by the band with Charles Fisher, who produced two of the band's previous albums, '' Mars Needs Guitars!'' and '' Blue Cave''. The album was mixed by Ed Stasium, who previously worked with the Hoodoo Gurus on the '' Kinky'' and ''Crank''. Background Hoodoo Gurus were formed in 1981 in Sydney, their eighth studio album, '' Mach Schau'', was released in 2004. They were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame on 18 July 2007. Ed Stasium is an American record producer and audio engineer, who has worked on albums by the Ramones, Talking Heads, Motörhead, the Smithereens and Living Colour. History Stasium began his recording career in 1970 fronting the band Brandywine. He appeared on their sole LP, ''Aged''. When he returned to the music industry three years later, it was as a recording engineer, working on a wide variety of projects ranging from the Chambers Brothers' ''Unbonded'' to Barry Miles' ''Magic Theater'' to Sha Na Na's ''Sha Na Now''. He was the engineer on " Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips as well as "Dynomite (song)" by Tony Camillo and Bazuka. Brad Shepherd
Bradley Mark Shepherd (born 1 February 1961) is an Australian rock musician. Shepherd is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and harmonica player; he has performed with several bands, especially Hoodoo Gurus. Biography Early life Shepherd was born in Sydney but his parents relocated to Brisbane when he was six years old and describes himself as "a frustrated drummer": his parents had bought a drum kit but after moving on to guitar he left the kit for his younger brother Murray Shepherd. Shepherd attended Kedron High School and Brisbane Grammar School in the mid-1970s. David Jonathan Faulkner (born 2 October 1957) is an Australian rock musician who also performed as Dave Flick. Faulkner is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist; he has performed with several bands, but is best known as a member of Hoodoo Gurus. He wrote the band's best known single, 1987 hit " What's My Scene?", which reached No. 3 on the National charts. Radio Birdman
Radio Birdman is an Australian punk rock band formed by Deniz Tek and Rob Younger in Sydney in 1974. The group influenced the work of many successful, mainstream bands, and are now considered instrumental in Australia's musical growth. History Origins Deniz Tek and Rob Younger formed Radio Birdman in mid-1974 in Sydney, having recently left their bands TV Jones and the Rats respectively. The Stems
The Stems are a garage punk (fusion genre), garage punk band formed in Perth, Western Australia in late 1983. They were founded by Dom Mariani in late 1983. The Stems are heavily influenced by 1960s garage rock and 1970s power pop. The band initially broke up in August 1987 and reformed in 2003, releasing a new album in 2007. Although the group disbanded in October 2009, as of 2013 The Stems are an ongoing live concern.
