The Punyabhushan award ( mr, पुण्यभूषण, translation: ''Jewel of Pune'') is awarded every year to an eminent personality from the field of art, music, culture, science, industry, social service, or sports in a special public function in the city of Pune Maharashtra, India. Pratap Govindrao Pawar
Pratap Govindrao Pawar is an Indian industrialist, and chairman and managing director at Sakal Papers Pvt. Ltd. The Government of India awarded him Padma Shri award in 2014 for his contribution to trade and industry in India. Career Pawar is a former president of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), Pune, the Indian Newspaper Society and Indian Language Newspapers Association. He is a member of the executive committee of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers, Paris and a UGC-nominee at the Press Council of India. Banoo Jehangir Coyaji
Banoo Jehangir Coyaji (7 September 1917 – 15 July 2004) was an Indian physician and activist in family planning and population control. She was director of King Edward Memorial Hospital in Pune, and started programmes of community health workers in rural areas of Maharashtra, the third largest state in India. Ramchandra Chintaman Dhere
Ramchandra Chintaman Dhere (21 July 1930 – 1 July 2016) was a Marathi writer from Maharashtra, India. Early life Dhere was born in the small village of Nigade in Pune district. He was orphaned at an early age of five. He studied at Municipal School, Pune, Poona English School, Poona Night School and graduated in 1966. During high school days he worked as a proof reader in the local press. Dhere earned a PhD in Marathi in 1975. His doctoral thesis titled ''Shtsthal: Ek Adhyan'' was completed under the guidance of Ramchandra Shankar Walimbe. Jayant Shridhar Tilak (12 October 1921 – 23 April 2001), generally referred to as Jayant-rao Tilak, was a politician from Indian National Congress and was a member of the Parliament of India representing Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He was also a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. He was the chairman of the house for 16 years. Mohan Agashe (born 23 July 1947) is an Indian psychiatrist and actor. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1996 in theatre. Early life Agashe was born in Bhor, Maharashtra. He studied in B. J. Medical College, Pune for his MBBS and MD degree in Psychiatry. He later became a professor, before becoming an actor. Career Medicine Agashe served as a professor of Psychiatry at the B. J. Medical College and Sassoon Hospital in Pune. Prabha Atre (born 13 September 1932) is an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana. She has been awarded all three of the Padma Awards by the Government of India. Early life and education Atre was born to Abasaheb and Indirabai Atre in Pune. As children, Atre and her sister, Usha, were interested in music, but neither of them planned to pursue music as a career. When Atre was eight, Indirabai was not keeping good health, and at a friend's suggestion that classical music lessons would help her feel better, she took a few lessons.
