Punk Goes Christmas
''Punk Goes Christmas'' is the fourteenth compilation album of the '' Punk Goes...'' series. It was released on 5 November 2013, through Fearless Records. Background and release This album, compared to the other albums in the Punk Goes... series received little press. The album was announced in a trailer posted online by Fearless Records in October 2013, along with the album's artwork and full track listing. The album was released and available to stream online on November 4 the same year. It is also one of the only Punk Goes... albums to contain original songs, however it does still contain cover songs. Critical reception Mark Deming from AllMusic praised the album's range of sounds, ranging from pop punk to metalcore. Edward Strickson of Alter the Press! gave the album a 4/5 score, praising its surprisingly festive characteristics and went on to say that "Fool's Holiday" by All Time Low may be one of the best songs they have made. ''Punk Goes...'' is a series of pop albums released by Fearless Records in which punk rock bands perform covers of songs from other genres. As of 2019, the series consists of nineteen compilation albums. Though predominantly a series of cover albums, ''Punk Goes Acoustic'', ''Punk Goes Acoustic 2'', and '' Punk Goes Acoustic Vol. 3'' deviate from this theme, featuring acoustic versions of original songs by the featured bands. 2013's ''Punk Goes Christmas'' and 2015 rerelease of ''Punk Goes Christmas'' titled '' Punk Goes Christmas: Deluxe Edition'' features a mix of both Christmas-themed original songs and covers. It was released on November 29, 1998 as the first and only single from their second studio album, '' Home for Christmas'' and was also featured on the end credits of the 1998 Disney Christmas movie ''I'll Be Home For Christmas''. Crown the Empire is an American metalcore band formed in 2010 in Dallas, Texas. They have released one EP and four studio albums. The song gained renewed popularity when it was included in 1991 on Atco Records' revised edition of their 1968 ''Soul Christmas'' compilation album and has since become a modern Christmas Standard (music), standard, with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers reporting that it was the 30th most-performed holiday song of all time.
