Puerto Rico competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the territory's nineteenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics. Like on the 2016 Summer Olympics, Puerto Rico left the Olympics with a single gold medal, this time won by Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. Other athletes fell short of their Olympic medal, with Steven Piñeiro finishing sixth in the men's skateboarding street park final, and table tennis player Adriana Díaz losing a match in the third round. Puerto Rico Olympic Committee
The Puerto Rico Olympic Committee (COPUR, es, Comité Olímpico de Puerto Rico) is the National Olympic Committee for Puerto Rico. It oversees Olympic-sports in Puerto Rico, and selects the Olympic team which represents the island. It was founded by Julio Enrique Monagas, and was officially recognized in 1948. COPUR operates the ''Casa Olímpica'', its headquarters in Old San Juan. Teams representing Puerto Rico have participated in every Summer Olympics since 1948. Andrés Arroyo (athlete)
Andrés Gabriel Arroyo Dominicci (born June 7, 1995) is a Puerto Rican middle-distance track athlete who specializes in various events. He competed for Puerto Rico at the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships in Athletics in 2012 and 2014. He also appeared at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he ran the junior men's race. High school Arroyo attended Colonial High School in Orlando, Florida. Before high school, he had aspired to become a baseball player, and in an attempt to improve his speed for baseball, he was rejected by his middle-school's track team. He and his family moved to the continental United States in 2004. A spell of two races in March–April 2013 garnered national attention for Arroyo, who ran 4:04.45 in a 1600-meter race and a 1:47.79 800 meter run at the 2013 Florida Relays.
