Puerto Rico MLS-USL Challenge
The Puerto Rico USL-MLS Challenge was a preseason invitational football tournament featuring the host club Puerto Rico Islanders, two clubs from Major League Soccer and a USL First Division club. The tournament was played in Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The first edition features the MLS clubs: Los Angeles Galaxy and F.C. Dallas, and USL clubs: Puerto Rico Islanders and Rochester Rhinos. Los Angeles Galaxy won the tournament after 2-1 win over the Puerto Rico Islanders. The tournament was again celebrated in 2009 featuring only a match between MLS club D.C. United D.C. United is a professional soccer club based in Washington, D.C. that competes in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, the top tier of American soccer. Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. USL First Division
The USL First Division (usually referred to as USL-1) was a professional men's soccer league in the United States and Canada from 2005 to 2010. During its existence, it formed the second tier of soccer in the United States soccer league system behind Major League Soccer. It was operated by United Soccer Leagues (USL) and was known as the A-League, from 1997 until 2004. Several teams left the league in 2009 to form the new North American Soccer League, with the intent of running their own second-tier league. Following a brief legal dispute, the two leagues operated in tandem under United States Soccer Federation (USSF) mediation as the USSF Division 2 Professional League in 2010 before the split became final. Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium (Spanish: ''Estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel'') is a soccer-specific stadium located in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. It is best known as the former home of the Puerto Rico Islanders of the North American Soccer League and current home of the Bayamón FC of the Liga Puerto Rico. The stadium can seat up to 12,500 people. It has easy access the metro station known as "Deportivo Station." LA Galaxy, also known as the Los Angeles Galaxy, are an American professional soccer club based in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Rochester New York FC, formerly known as the Rochester Rhinos, are an American professional soccer team based in Rochester, New York, United States.
