Pueblo Indians (baseball)
The Pueblo Indians were a minor league baseball team that was located in Pueblo, Colorado and played in the Western League sporadically from 1900 to 1911. A Pueblo franchise had previously played in the Colorado State League on and off from 1885 to 1898 and they joined the second Western League when it formed in 1900 but folded that season. The name returned when the Colorado Springs Millionaires moved to town and became the Indians in 1905, and they remained active until 1909. In 1911 the Wichita Jobbers moved to Pueblo and finished out the season as the Indians. Rocky Mountain League
The Rocky Mountain League was a minor league baseball league that operated in 1912. The Class D level league featured teams based in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. The short–lived Rocky Mountain League folded during the 1912 season. History The Rocky Mountain League formed in 1912 as a four–team Class D level league under the direction of league president Ira Bidwell, who also managed the Cheyenne franchise in the league. The four–team league began play on May 4, 1912. During the season, only the La Junta Railroaders franchise remained in place. The Canon City Swastikas moved to Raton, New Mexico on June 4, 1912. Western League (1900–1958)
The Western League was the name of several leagues in American minor league baseball. First, its earliest progenitor, which existed from 1885 to 1899, was the predecessor of the American League. Later, during the 20th century, there were four incarnations of the Western League, including a Class D loop, formerly the Nebraska State League, that played from 1939 to 1941, and an independent loop (outside of "organized baseball") that began play in 1995. Trinidad, Colorado
Trinidad is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Las Animas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 8,329 as of the 2020 census. Trinidad lies north of Raton, New Mexico, and south of Denver. It is on the historic Santa Fe Trail. History Early Trinidad was first explored by Spanish and Mexican traders, who liked its proximity to the Santa Fe Trail. It was founded in 1862 soon after coal was discovered in the region. This led to an influx of immigrants eager to capitalize on this natural resource. By the late 1860s, the town had about 1,200 residents.
