Public Policy Forum
The Public Policy Forum (PPF) is an independent, non-profit Canadian think tank for public-private dialogue. The organization's stated aim is "to serve as a neutral, independent forum for open dialogue on public policy." The Forum was founded in 1987 by Shelly (Sheldon) Ehrenworth, Geoff Poapst and a group of public and private sector leaders. The inaugural board meeting took place in Toronto where members endorsed what became the Forum's credo: that the business of government is too important to leave in the hands of government alone. In its early years, the Forum brought together leaders from business, the trade union movement, academe and the not-for-profit sector for meetings in cities across Canada. The idea was to share perspectives on public sector management questions and discuss ways to build a more collaborative approach to policy making. Peter Harder (born August 25, 1952) is a Canadian former senior civil servant who was named to the Senate of Canada to represent Ontario on March 23, 2016, after the Prime Minister had announced his intention to recommend his appointment on March 18, 2016. He served as Representative of the Government in the Senate from 2016 to 2019. Francine Pelletier (journalist)
Francine Pelletier (born c. 1955) is a journalist based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She is the founder of a feminist newspaper, ''La Vie en Rose'', and has written for '' La Presse'', ''Le Devoir'', and the ''Montreal Gazette''. After the École Polytechnique massacre on December 6, 1989, in which 14 women were murdered by Marc Lepine, she lobbied for the public release of the gunman's suicide letter. It was leaked to her on November 22, 1990, and was subsequently published in ''La Presse''. The letter included a list of 19 prominent Quebec feminists whom Marc Lepine had apparently wished to target, and her name was one of those listed. Michael Patrick Donovan is a Canadian film producer, executive, and screenwriter. Career Salter Street Films Michael Donovan co-founded Salter Street Films with his brother Paul Donovan in 1983. Beverley McLachlin
Beverley Marian McLachlin (born September 7, 1943) is a Canadian jurist and author who served as the 17th chief justice of Canada from 2000 to 2017. She is the longest-serving chief justice in Canadian history and the first woman to hold the position. In July 2018, McLachlin began a three-year term as a non-permanent judge on the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, the first Canadian jurist nominated to the post. Mark Joseph Carney (born March 16, 1965) is a Canadian economist and banker who served as the governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and the governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020. Farah Mohamed (born 1970) is a Canadian women's rights activist, public speaker, and business leader who founded G(irls)20, an annual event to bring together women from across the world. She has previously served as the CEO of the Malala Fund, a non-profit organisation that advocates for girls' education. She spent almost a decade working with Canadian politicians on Parliament Hill. Alan Bernstein (born June 25, 1947) is president and CEO of CIFAR (the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research). He is recognized as a leader in health research, science policy, mentorship and organizational leadership.
