Public Life
''Public Life'' is the third studio album by singer Eddie Schwartz. It was released in 1984 by WEA in Canada. Lead single "Strike" was a minor hit in Canada, reaching #47 on the RPM charts. The second single, " Special Girl", was a top 20 hit on the Canadian Adult Contemporary charts. "Special Girl" became much better known in the U.S. for its near-simultaneous cover by the group America, whose version became a U.S. hit in September 1984. In the U.K., the song was a minor hit for Meat Loaf in early 1987. Asia recorded a cover of "Don't Come To Me" in 1995 for their album Arena, but was left off and was later included on the archives compilation Archiva 2. Edward Sydney Schwartz C.M. (born December 22, 1949) is a Canadian musician who had moderate success as a recording artist in the early 1980s before becoming a successful songwriter and record producer in the late 1980s and the 1990s. Songs he has written or co-written include the top-10 ''Billboard'' hits "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (Pat Benatar, 1980), " Don't Shed a Tear" (Paul Carrack, 1987) and " The Doctor" (The Doobie Brothers, 1989). Career Schwartz was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and graduated from Toronto's York University in 1976 as a music and English major. ''Arena'' is the sixth studio album by British rock band Asia, released in March 1996 by Bullet Proof Records. Recorded at Electric Palace Studios in London during 1995, it was produced by vocalist John Payne and keyboard player Geoff Downes. The album was a departure from Asia's usual sound, adopting a more acoustic production style with Latin and Middle Eastern influences. Background Asia's previous album, Aria, received little promotion due to low sales figures, leading to dwindling audience turnouts during the 1994 tour. Rick Derringer
Rick Derringer (born Richard Dean Zehringer; August 5, 1947) is an American guitarist, vocalist, producer and songwriter. He came to prominence in the 1960s as founding member of his band, the McCoys. Their debut single, "Hang on Sloopy", was a number-one hit in 1965 and became a classic of the garage rock era. The McCoys then had seven songs that charted in the top 100, including versions of "Fever" and "Come on Let’s Go". In 1974, Derringer reached the US top 30 with his own song, "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo". ''Archiva'' is a two-volume collection of out-takes and previously unreleased tracks by British progressive rock band Asia. The volume two, designated as ''Archiva 2'', was released on 17 September 1996 by Resurgence. Background In late 1995, Asia had completed work on their sixth studio album, ''Arena''. On 1 January 1996, when the group returned from the holidays to their recording studio, Electric Palace, in London, they found that a water pipe had burst and had destroyed hundreds of thousands of pounds' worth of equipment. Despite the accident, a box of old tapes with a large number of archived tracks survived. These tracks, which had failed to make the previous three albums, were quickly considered for a release.
