Public Debt Management Agency (Greece)
The Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA) is a government agency in Greece. Its stated purpose is the: "improvement of the cost of funding and the achievement of the best possible structure (composition and maturity) of the public debt according to the needs of the Hellenic State and the prevailing international economic conditions." Organisation The PDMA was founded in 1999. It is headed by a Board of Directors, appointed by the Ministry of Finance (Greece), Minister of Finance. This Board of Directors includes the Director General of the PDMA, who handles the day-to-day running of the agency. The Ministry of Finance ( el, Υπουργείο Οικονομικών) is the government department responsible for Greece's public finances. The incumbent minister is Christos Staikouras of New Democracy. Minister's role According to Article 73 of the Constitution of Greece, any bills relating to pensions must be submitted by the Minister of Finance. According to Article 75 of the Constitution, any bill relating to expenditure or a reduction in revenue must not be introduced unless accompanied by a special report on the bill, signed by the Minister of Finance. Petros Christodoulou ( el, Πέτρος Χριστοδούλου; born 1960) is a Greek economist and banker. Biography Christodoulou was born in 1960. Christodoulou earned his B.Sc. in finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business in 1982, and his MBA from Columbia University in 1985, with a specialization in Finance and Global Markets.
