''Psychic Maps'' is the fifth studio album by American progressive metal band Dysrhythmia. The album was released through Relapse Records, on July 7, 2009. Critical reception ''Kerrang!'' gave the album a generally positive review. "Throughout the six tracks, there's richness of sound that throws a nod in the direction of Don Caballero, but they are capable of utterly kicking you arse when they want to with rushes of percussive violence and frantically mangled guitar, occasionally delving into the kind of assonance that makes your teeth hurt," reviewer Dan Slessor writes, giving it three K's out of five. Dysrhythmia is an American instrumental music, instrumental progressive metal band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, in 1998. The band's music combines avant-garde elements of progressive rock and jazz with Heavy metal music, heavy metal. They are currently located in Brooklyn, New York (state), New York. Their most recent release, ''Terminal Threshold'', was released in October, 2019. History The band was formed in August 1998 by guitarist Kevin Hufnagel and bassist Clayton Ingerson, who were joined six months later by drummer Jeff Eber. The band entered the studio in early 2000 to record their debut album, ''Contradiction'', which was recorded, like every other Dysrhythmia album to follow, completely live with minimal overdubs. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). It uses one or more pickups to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical signals, which ultimately are reproduced as sound by loudspeakers. Don Caballero (often shortened by members as 'Don Cab') was an American instrumental rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although the band has had numerous lineup changes with co-founder Damon Che (drums and percussion) being the only constant member, the band's 'classic' lineup consisted of Che, Ian Williams (guitar), Pat Morris (bass guitar), and Mike Banfield (guitar). Formed in 1991 as a trio, the band released two singles in 1992.
