Black Moth Super Rainbow (occasionally abbreviated as BMSR) is an American psychedelic electronic indie rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. BMSR is a solo music project created by Thomas Fec, who is also known as Tobacco. Fec writes, records, and produces the work of BMSR independently. As a live performance it features members Tobacco whose vocals are altered via a vocoder, synth players The Seven Fields of Aphelion and Pony Diver, drummer Iffernaut, and bassist STV SLV. Former members include keyboardist Father Hummingbird, who typically played with a polysynth, and Power Pill Fist on bass. Thomas Fec, better known by his stage name Tobacco (stylized in all caps), is an American electronic musician. He is the frontman of the psychedelic rock band Black Moth Super Rainbow, in addition to working as a solo artist. As of late 2018, he has teamed up with rapper Aesop Rock to become the music duo Malibu Ken, releasing their self-titled debut album in January 2019. History He grew up in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Hampton High School in 1998 along with bandmate Seth Ciotti. In a 2009 interview with ''Skyscraper Magazine'', Tobacco said that his name derived from "a character that freaked me out as a kid, the Tobacco Man," referring to the character from the film ''Redneck Zombies''. ''Cobra Juicy'' is the sixth studio album by Pennsylvania based band Black Moth Super Rainbow. Initially scheduled to be released on October 9, it was eventually pushed back to October 23, 2012. Background After the release of their album '' Eating Us'' in 2009, the band had begun work on their fifth album. It was scheduled to be released in 2011 under the name ''Psychic Love Damage'', although it was later revealed by BMSR-member Tobacco that he had scrapped the album for finding it not worth the fans spending money on. Towards the end of March 2012, a song titled "Like a Sundae" was released. On April 5, along with an announcement about the album release, a song called "Spraypaint" was revealed. Several months later, the album cover was revealed and a limited t-shirt was printed featuring the image. On July 11, Tobacco started a Kickstarter page to fund the album.
