Psou
The Psou (; ady, Псыу; ka, ფსოუ; ab, Ҧсоу; russian: Псоу) is a river in the West Caucasus, bordering the Gagra Range to the east. It flows along the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range and forms a part of the border between Georgia ( Abkhazia) and Russia. Its source in the Aigra Mountain, and it flows into the Black Sea. The Psou is long, and the drainage basin is approximately . Between the mouth of the river and the mouth of the Mzymta is a "sandy depositional foreland", which is approximately in length and wide. Gagra Range
Gagra Range (; ka, გაგრის ქედი, tr; russian: Гагрский хребет, Gagrskij hrebet) is a mountain range of the Greater Caucasus in Abkhazia, Georgia.The range runs between the valleys of the Bzyb and Psou rivers to the south of the Caucasus Major, in a general North-South direction. The highest elevation is 3,357 m ( Mount Agepsta). The Gagra Range approaches the Black Sea close to the city of Gagra and plays an important role in moderating the climate of that resort by blocking cold, continental winds from the north and east. The range is mostly made up of limestone, with pronounced karst topography and is characterized by many deep canyons created by rivers. Leselidze ( ka, ლესელიძე, ; hy, Լեսելիձե; russian: Леселидзе) or Gyachrypsh ( ab, Гьачрыҧшь, ''G'achryphsh''; russian: Гячрыпш) is a town in Abkhazia. Formerly named Yermolovsk, the town is located on the shores of the Black Sea and is 14 kilometers from the city of Gagra. History The town was founded in the 19th century as the settlement Yermolovsk (russian: Ермоловск), named in honor of the Minister of Agriculture A.S. Yermolov who traveled to this place in 1894. Some authors linked the name of the settlement to General Yermolov (commander of the Caucasian war), but this presumption is apparently erroneous.
