Taxonomy The genus was first named and described by René Jeannel in 1920. Along with the monobasic genus ''Neaphaenops'' (also Jeannel) from Kentucky caves, the dibasic genus '' Nelsonites'' (Valentine) from Tennessee and Kentucky, and ''Trechoblemus'' of Eurasia and North America North America is a continent in the Northern Hemisphere and almost entirely within the Western Hemisphere.
