Psari ( el, Ψάρι) is a village in Messenia, Greece. It is located in the municipal unit of Dorio and has a population of about 600 people. Messenia or Messinia ( ; el, Μεσσηνία ) is a regional unit (''perifereiaki enotita'') in the southwestern part of the Peloponnese region, in Greece. Until the implementation of the Kallikratis plan on 1 January 2011, Messenia was a prefecture (''nomos'') covering the same territory. The capital and largest city of Messenia is Kalamata. Geography Physical Messenia borders on Elis to the north, Arcadia to the northeast, and Laconia to the southeast. The Ionian Sea lies to the west, and the Gulf of Messinia to the south. Dorio, Messenia
Dorio ( el, Δώριο) is a village and a former municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Oichalia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 102.832 km2. The population of the municipal unit is 2,983, and of the village alone 915 (2011 census). Dorio is above sea level. The small settlement of Ano Dorio is nearby. Ioannis Charalambopoulos
Ioannis Charalambopoulos ( el, Ιωάννης Χαραλαμπόπουλος; February 10, 1919 – October 16, 2014) was a Greek Army officer (Colonel of the Engineering Corps) and socialist politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of National Defence of Greece. Early life and political career Charalambopoulos was born in 1919 in Psari, Messenia, to a military family. He studied at the Hellenic Army Academy and completed his studies with a scholarship at Woolwich Polytechnic after World War II. During the war, he served as the commander of an infantry unit during the Greco-Italian War and later in the Mediterranean and Middle East Theatre. He left the army in 1963 with the rank of Colonel and became a politician in the Center Union, being elected to Parliament representing Messenia in the 1963 and 1964 elections.
