Prêmio DB Artes
Prêmio DB Artes (''DB Artes Award'') was a Brazilian award aimed at independent comics organized by Divisão Brasileira de Artes studio and awarded to authors, personalities and works between 2003 and 2010. The award ceremony took place during HQ Festival, a comics festival held annually in Aracaju. The award (called DB Artes Independentes in its first three editions) was open to all Brazilian independent authors, especially fanzine A fanzine (blend word, blend of ''fan (person), fan'' and ''magazine'' or ''-zine'') is a non-professional and non-official publication produced by fan (person), enthusiasts of a particular cultural phenomenon (such as a literary or musical genre) ... artists. Aracaju
Aracaju () is the capital of the state of Sergipe, Brazil, located in the northeastern part of the country on the coast, about 350 km (217 mi) north of Salvador. Independent Comics
Alternative comics cover a range of American comics that have appeared since the 1980s, following the underground comix movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Alternative comics present an alternative to mainstream superhero comics which in the past have dominated the American comic book industry. Alternative comic books span a wide range of genres, artistic styles, and subjects. Alternative comics are often published in small numbers as the author(s) deem fit. They are often published with less regard for regular distribution schedules. Universo HQ
Universo HQ ("Comics Universe") is a Brazilian website about comics and considered the most important Brazilian information source on comics-related news. History Universo HQ was created by Samir Naliato and first aired on January 5, 2000. After six months, he invited the journalist Sidney Gusman to become the website's editor. Gusman also invited Sérgio Codespoti and Marcelo Naranjo to work with them, followed by many different collaborators during the years. The first journalistic highlight to Universo HQ was in 2000, when artist Jerry Robinson had an infarction during a visit to São Paulo. The Universo HQ's coverture become the main source for the non-specialized press. Fanzine
A fanzine (blend word, blend of ''fan (person), fan'' and ''magazine'' or ''-zine'') is a non-professional and non-official publication produced by fan (person), enthusiasts of a particular cultural phenomenon (such as a literary or musical genre) for the pleasure of others who share their interest. The term was coined in an October 1940 science fiction fanzine by Russ Chauvenet and first popularized within science fiction fandom, and from there the term was adopted by other communities. Typically, publishers, editors, writers and other contributors of Article (publishing), articles or illustrations to fanzines are not paid. Bigorna
Bigorna (anvil in Portuguese) was a Brazilian website about comics with an almost exclusive focus on Brazilian comics. History It was created in 2005 by editor Eloyr Pacheco, who after a few years left the site, transferring the position of editor-in-chief to cartoonist Marcio Baraldi, who kept the site in operation until 29 May 2011, having published a text by farewell in which he informed that the site would remain online, even without updates, due to the six years of content focused on Brazilian comics. Awards In 2006, the Bigorna website won the Jayme Cortez Trophy, an award intended to reward great contributions to Brazilian comics. In 2009 and 2010, it won the Prêmio DB Artes for Best Fanzine Site.
