''The Man Who Copied'' ( pt, O Homem que Copiava; ) is a 2003 Brazilian crime comedy-drama film written and directed by Jorge Furtado, set in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. ''The Man Who Copied'' takes the form of a "how-to" guide for social mobility. Despite the crime involved in the film, it still has the feel of a lighthearted romantic comedy (which is a relatively new genre in Brazilian film and television, introduced in the 1990s by the American and British film and television industries). José Bastos Padilha Neto (; born 1 August 1967) is a Brazilian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the Brazilian critical and financial successes ''Elite Squad'' and '' Elite Squad: The Enemy Within'' and the 2014 remake of '' RoboCop''. He has won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival for ''Elite Squad'' in 2008.
