	Gerald Spencer Pryse Gerald Spencer Pryse (1882–1956) was a British artist and lithographer. Biography Born at Ashton, Pryse studied in London and Paris, and first won a prize at the Venice International Exhibition in 1907. In the same year, he joined the Fabian Society, and helped to found ''The Neolith'', a periodical of literature and the fine arts; the journal was printed in lithography. He was a regular exhibitor at the Senefelder Club, and contributed works to Punch, the Strand Magazine, and The Graphic. First World War During the Great War, Pryse produced a considerable body of lithographic work, some of it in colour under the title ''Autumn Campaign'' (1914). This was based in his time in France and Belgium at the beginning of the war when he drove around in a Mercedes carrying lithographic stones in the back. 	James Morgan Pryse James Morgan Pryse (14 November 1859 – 22 April 1942) was an author, publisher, and theosophist. Family background Pryse was born in New London, Ohio (a suburb of Cincinnati), and died in Los Angeles, California. Pryse married Jessica 'Jessie' Mayer (died on Aug. 27, 1928) on Dec. 1, 1902 at Galesville, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. James had a brother named John Morgan Pryse (Sept. 9, 1863 - Sept. 5, 1952) who died in Los Angeles and who was also a publisher and writer on esoteric subjects. Pryse brothers and the Theosophical Society James settled in Los Angeles, California, in 1886. He joined the Los Angeles branch of the Theosophical Society on July 28, 1887. His brother John was already a member at that time. John later dropped out of the Theosophical Society and founded the Gnostic Society in 1928. 	Tessa Spencer Pryse Tessa Spencer Pryse, RBA is a British Impressionist artist based in Wivenhoe, Essex. The daughter of Gerald Spencer Pryse, a noted Welsh lithographer, Spencer Pryse had an unusual childhood, attending schools in France, rural Wales and Switzerland. She gained a scholarship to Byam Shaw Art School aged 17, where she met her future husband and father of her two children. Based for a time in Scotland, she moved to Wivenhoe in 1991. Spencer Pryse specialises in oil and watercolour, and her preferred surface is fine oil-primed canvas. The artist's work is notable for its use of light and landscapes. She has commented: "light and delight; those two words with a common root are my inspiration. I paint what I see and search for what I feel to be the essence of a scene in landscape, figure or interior." Spencer Pryse has received a number of accolades.
