Pryluky ( uk, Прилу́ки ) is a List of cities in Ukraine, city and List of hromadas of Ukraine, municipality located on the Udai River in Chernihiv Oblast, north-central Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Pryluky Raion (Raion, district). Located nearby is the Pryluky (air base), Pryluky air base, a major strategic bomber base during the Cold War, which is Ukraine's largest airfield. Population: History Archeological excavations have shown that a settlement on the territory of the present-day city dates back to the second millennium BC. According to one explanation, the city derived its name from its location, being situated on a turn in the river that looked like a bow when viewed from above. Another theory holds that the city's name connotes the idea of being situated “on floodplain meadows”. This is a list of all 1,469 Hromada, hromadas of Ukraine that were formed in 2020 (excluding Kyiv, Sevastopol and hromadas in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea). Pryluky Raion
Pryluky Raion ( uk, Прилуцький район) is a raion (district) of Chernihiv Oblast, northern Ukraine. Its administrative centre is located at the city of Pryluky. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Chernihiv Oblast was reduced to five, and the area of Pryluky Raion was significantly expanded. Four abolished raions, Ichnia, Sribne, Talalaivka, and Varva Raions, as well as the city of Pryluky, which was previously incorporated as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the raion, were merged into Pryluky Raion. Pryluky (air Base)
Pryluky () is an air base in Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine located 6 km west of Pryluky. This airfield was Ukraine's primary Tupolev Tu-160 bomber base (with Uzyn hosting the nation's Tupolev Tu-95 fleet). There are revetments for 20 large aircraft. History In April 1946, the 184th Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment (184 GvTBAP) arrived at Priluky, after being renamed from 9th Guards Long-Range Regiment.Piotr Butowski, International Air Power Review, Summer 2004, 81. It flew Tu-4s from 1950, Tu-16 aircraft beginning in 1955, then acquired the Tupolev Tu-22M4 in 1984 and the Tu-160 from 1987 until 2000. It also flew the Tu-134UBL trainer. Pryluky accepted the USSR's first Tu-160 (Blackjack) in April 1987, building its fleet up to 19 by 1994. By the mid 1990s, the Pryluky Regiment had lost its value as a combat unit. Pryluky Regiment
The Pryluky Regiment was one of the seventeen territorial-administrative subdivisions of the Hetman State. The regiment's capital was the city of Pryluky, now in the Chernihiv Oblast, north-central Ukraine. History The regiment was created during the Khmelnytsky Uprising. Following the signing of the Treaty of Zboriv in 1649 it consisted a total of 21 companies, and had 2,100 registered Cossacks. During the uprising the regiment took part in the Battle of Berestechko in 1651. When a civil war emerged among the cossacks the Hetmanate was split along the Dnieper River into Left-bank Ukraine and Right-bank Ukraine, which placed the regiment under the control of Left-bank Ukraine hetmans. The regiment was involved in successfully suppressing Martyn Pushkar's revolt against the Vyhovsky government. This is a complete list of cities in Ukraine. On 1 January 2022, there were 461 cities ( uk, місто, ''misto'') in Ukraine. City status is granted by the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliament. The city status is only partially related to the size of a populated place in Ukraine. Battle Of Berestechko
The Battle of Berestechko ( pl, Bitwa pod Beresteczkiem; uk, Берестецька битва, Битва під Берестечком) was fought between the Ukrainian Cossacks, led by Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, aided by their Crimean Tatar allies, and a Polish army under King John II Casimir. It was a battle of a Cossack rebellion in Ukraine that took place in the years 1648–1657 after the expiration of a two-year truce. Fought from 28 to 30 June 1651, the battle took place in the province of Volhynia, on the hilly plain south of the Styr River.
