Pruden
Prudencio Sánchez Fernández, commonly known as Pruden (1 September 1916 – 25 February 1998) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Atlético Madrid (then known as Atlético Aviación) and Real Madrid. He was La Liga's top scorer in 1940–41 with Atlético, in which he was the architect of the entity's second league title that same year. At Real Madrid, he played a pivotal role in helping the club win two consecutive Copa del Reys as he scored important goals in both finals. Playing career Early years Prudencio Sánchez was born on 1 September 1916 in the town of Babilafuente, in the province of Salamanca. His career started in his hometown club Salamanca, in the club's first-ever season in 1934–35, aged 18. Pichichi Trophy
In Spanish football, the Trofeo Pichichi is awarded by the sports newspaper '' Marca'' to the top goalscorer of each La Liga season. Named after the Athletic Bilbao striker Rafael "Pichichi" Moreno, the trophy has been awarded annually since the 1952–53 season. All top scorers who preceded the award's creation were retroactively named Pichichi winners by ''Marca''. Since the 2014–15 season, the top scorer of the Liga Iberdrola is also awarded the Pichichi Trophy. The Pichichi is not officially recognised by the league's governing body, the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional. As the award is based on ''Marca''s subjective criteria, its data may differ from the official match delegate reports. 1940–41 La Liga
The 1940–41 La Liga was the tenth season since its establishment. Atlético Aviación retained the title. Format changes Due to the expansion of the league to 14 teams for the next season, the two last qualified teams, instead of being directly relegated to Segunda División, faced the third and fourth qualified teams in a single-game play-off match. Team locations After an absence of one season due to the damages in their stadium, Oviedo came back to La Liga. Murcia made its debut this season. Copa De Los Campeones De España
The Copa de los Campeones de España was a Spanish Association football, football competition, held once in September 1940 as a two-legged game between Atlético Madrid, Club Atlético-Aviación (1939–40 La Liga winners) and RCD Espanyol, RCD Español de Barcelona (1940 Copa del Generalísimo winners). The first leg on 1 September was a 3–3 draw at the Sarrià Stadium in Barcelona, while the second two weeks later at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas was a 7–1 victory for Atlético, who were tenants at the ground following the destruction of their Estadio Metropolitano de Madrid, stadium in the Spanish Civil War. It was the first super cup in Spanish football. The tournament was not repeated, but the format resumed in 1945 with the Copa de Oro Argentina, and two years later there was the first official version, the Copa Eva Duarte. Isidro Lángara Galarraga (25 May 1912 in Pasaia, Gipuzkoa – 21 August 1992 in Andoain) was a Spanish football striker from the Basque Country. He played 12 times for Spain, scoring 17 goals. Jacinto Francisco Fernández de Quincoces y López de Arbina (17 July 1905 – 10 May 1997) was a Spanish football player and manager, as well as President of the Valencian Pilota Federation. He was a central defender and is regarded as one of the greatest defenders of the inter-war era. He played 25 matches for the Spain national football team from 1928 to 1936. Diego Martín Forlán Corazo (born 19 May 1979) is a Uruguayan professional football manager and former player who played as a forward. Regarded as one of the best forwards of his generation, Forlán is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe at club level. Ricardo Zamora
Ricardo Zamora Martínez (; 14 February 1901 – 8 September 1978) was a Spanish footballer and manager. He played as a goalkeeper for, among others, RCD Espanyol, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. As an international he played for both the Catalan XI and Spain. As a manager, he won two La Liga titles with Atlético Aviación and briefly managed Spain. Zamora, nicknamed ''El Divino'', was noted for wearing a cloth cap and a white polo-neck jumper on the field, a look later copied by several of his contemporaries. He claimed it was to protect him from both the sun and his opponents.
