Prozostrodontia
Prozostrodontia is a clade of cynodonts including mammaliaforms and their closest relatives such as Tritheledontidae and Tritylodontidae. It was erected as a node-based taxon by Liu and Olsen (2010) and defined as the least inclusive clade containing ''Prozostrodon brasiliensis'', '' Tritylodon langaevus'', '' Pachygenelus monus'', and ''Mus musculus'' (the house mouse). Prozostrodontia is diagnosed by several characters, including: * Reduced prefrontal and postorbital bones, with a reduction or disappearance of a strut of bone called the postorbital bar separating the eye socket from the temporal region * Unconnected dentary bones in the lower jaw * The presence of a small hole in the skull called the sphenopalatine foramen * A sagittal crest extending along the top of the skull and connecting with a lambdoidal crest at the back of the skull * Neural spines of the dorsal vertebrae angled backward * A convex-shaped iliac crest and a reduced posterior iliac spine on the hip * ...

Alemoatherium
''Alemoatherium'' is an extinct genus of prozostrodontian cynodont which lived in the Late Triassic of Brazil. It contains a single species, ''A. huebneri'', named in 2017 by Agustín Martinelli and colleagues. The genus is based on UFSM 11579b, a left lower jaw (dentary) found in the Alemoa Member of the Santa Maria Formation, preserving the late Carnian-age ''Hyperodapedon'' Assemblage Zone. ''Alemoatherium'' was among the smallest species of cynodonts found in the rich synapsid fauna of the Santa Maria Formation. Its blade-like four-cusped postcanine teeth show many similarities with those of dromatheriids, an obscure group of early prozostrodontians. ''Therioherpeton'' is an extinct genus of small, carnivorous cynodonts belonging to the clade Prozostrodontia, which lived in what is now Brazil during the Late Triassic. Its type species is ''Therioherpeton cargnini''. ''Agudotherium'' is an extinct genus of prozostrodontian cynodonts from the Late Triassic Candelária Formation of the Paraná Basin in southern Brazil. Mammaliamorpha
Mammaliamorpha is a clade of cynodonts. It contains the clades Tritylodontidae and Mammaliaformes, as well as a few genera that do not belong to either of these groups. The family Tritheledontidae has also been placed in Mammaliamorpha by some phylogenetic analyses, but has been recovered outside the clade by others. According to a 2022 study based on inner ear anatomy, Mammaliamorpha may be the clade in which endothermy ("warm-bloodedness") first appeared in the mammalian lineage. The postorbital bar (or postorbital bone) is a bony arched structure that connects the frontal bone of the skull to the zygomatic arch, which runs laterally around the eye socket. It is a trait that only occurs in mammalian taxa, such as most strepsirrhine primates and the hyrax, while haplorhine primates have evolved fully enclosed sockets. One theory for this evolutionary difference is the relative importance of vision to both orders. In anatomy, the mandible, lower jaw or jawbone is the largest, strongest and lowest bone in the human facial skeleton. It forms the lower jaw and holds the lower teeth in place. ''Pachygenelus'' is an extinct genus of tritheledontid cynodonts. Fossils have been found from the Karoo basin in South Africa and date back to the Early Jurassic. ''Pachygenelus'' had both an articular- quadrate and dentary-squamosal jaw joint characteristic of ictidosaurs. Only mammals possess the dentary-squamosal articulation, while all other tetrapods possess the typical arcticular-quadrate articulation.
