Providence Hospital (Mobile, Alabama)
USA Health Providence Hospital (also known as Providence Hospital, formerly Ascension Providence) is a 349-bed high-rise hospital in the U.S. city of Mobile, Alabama. The hospital tower was completed in 1987. The building sits at the center of a campus, it rises approximately and 11 stories. It was designed by noted American architect Bertrand Goldberg, best known for the Marina City complex in Chicago. History Providence Hospital was founded in 1854 by the Daughters of Charity from Emmitsburg, Maryland. Mobile's first bishop, Michael Portier, had asked the first four Sisters to come to Mobile in 1841 to care for orphans, following an outbreak of yellow fever. By 1852 the Sisters were under contract to administer the City Hospital of Mobile. This ended in 1854 when they resigned from the hospital. Airport Boulevard (Mobile, Alabama)
Airport Boulevard is one of the main thoroughfares in Mobile County, Alabama, and is one of the few non- federal roads in the county that enters the city of Mobile, having entered Mobile County at the Mississippi state line. It is an east–west highway. In Mississippi, Airport Boulevard is known as Mississippi Highway 614. When it crosses the Alabama state line, its designation changes to Mobile County Highway 56 and its name changes to Airport Boulevard. Location Airport Boulevard is the most important east–west thoroughfare in the county which does not enter the downtown business district. The Know Nothing party was a nativist political party and movement in the United States in the mid-1850s. The party was officially known as the "Native American Party" prior to 1855 and thereafter, it was simply known as the "American Party".
