Provenance (album)
''Provenance'' is a collaborative studio album by Australian recording artists Vince Jones and Paul Grabowsky, released in October 2015. Jones and Grabowsky first worked together in the 1980s, when Grabowsky was music director to Jones. ''Provenance'' marks a renewed collaboration between the pair after several decades apart. The title describes the music which the duo chose to record: ballads that showcase the essential elements of their craft, elements that have been the foundations of their careers, pared down to the intimate combination of piano and voice (and occasionally piano and flumpet – a hybrid of trumpet and flugelhorn). At the ARIA Music Awards of 2016 it won the ARIA Award for Best Jazz Album. Vince Jones
Vincent Hugh Jones (born 24 March 1954) is an Australian jazz singer, songwriter, and trumpet, flugelhorn and flumpet player. His music includes both original material and new contemporary versions of jazz standards. His themes are often love, inequity, injustice, peace and anti-greed. Biography Vincent Hugh Jones was born on 24 March 1954 in Paisley, Scotland. He is the second eldest of four children to John Jones and Mary (née Docherty); the family moved to Australia in April 1964 and lived in Wollongong; Note: User may have to undertake a new search where Jones attended Corrimal High School. Paul Grabowsky
Paul Atherstone Grabowsky (born 27 September 1958) is an Australian pianist and composer. Biography Born in Lae, Papua New Guinea, Grabowsky is a pianist and composer of music for film, theatre and opera. His father Alistair had lived in Papua New Guinea with his wife Charlotte since the 1930s working on oil rigs, building roads, flying planes. Grabowsky described his ancestry as "failed Polish aristocracy". His grandfather was a legitimate Polish Count of the Grabowksi noble family, a descendant of Jan Jerzy Grabowski from where he gets his title; his grandfather was exiled from Poland and lived in Scotland. His older brother Michael took great interest in the young composer and later worked with Paul co-ordinating and producing many of his television and film scores in the 1990s. The AIR Awards of 2017 is the eleventh annual Australian Independent Record Labels Association Music Awards (generally known as the AIR Awards) and was an award ceremony at Queen's Theatre Adelaide, Australia on 27 July 2017. This is the first time the event was held in South Australia. There were no awards in 2016, due to moved in the eligibility dates for the AIR Awards to align with the calendar year. In music, an aria (Italian: ; plural: ''arie'' , or ''arias'' in common usage, diminutive form arietta , plural ariette, or in English simply air) is a self-contained piece for one voice, with or without instrumental or orchestral accompaniment, normally part of a larger work.
