Danshuei River Mangrove Nature Reserve
Tamsui District ( Hokkien POJ: ''Tām-chúi''; Hokkien Tâi-lô: ''Tām-tsuí''; Mandarin Pinyin: ''Dànshuǐ'') is a seaside district in New Taipei, Taiwan. It is named after the Tamsui River; the name means "fresh water". The town is popular as a site for viewing the sun setting into the Taiwan Strait. Miaoli Sanyi Huoyanshan Nature Reserve
Huoyan Mountain ( zh, t=火炎山, p=Huǒyánshān, l="fire mountain") is a mountain located at the border of Sanyi and Yuanli Townships in Miaoli County, Taiwan. The mountain is known for its jagged exposed laterite surfaces that look like fire. Description Huoyan Mountain is located on the north bank of Da'an River. Geologically, it is part of the Toukeshan Formation (頭嵙山層), a Pleistocene-era formation. The prominent red cliffs on the mountain are due to the tectonic uplift, weak shear strength of the underlying soil, and heavy rainfall. The mountain is protected by the Forestry Bureau to preserve the unique landscape and ecology. Hokutolite Nature Reserve
Hokutolite is the only mineral named after a Taiwanese place (Hokuto is the Japanese name for Beitou) among the more than 4,000 naturally occurring minerals in the world.
